In Guadalcanal scennary, night battle Japanese always win, even though many Americans have a superiority in number of ships???
Even in the case that Americans have battleships and cruisers, the Japanese just have destroyers and light cruisers, the Japanese will be winners???
Can Americans ever win at night?

yes.

Longer versions of that answer could be: Yes, but make sure your tf/ship commanders are good or Yes, a larger sample size will lead to a greater variety of outcomes.

Then the problem is only in tf/ship commanders ?
Anything else?

Detection level.
Did I mention luck?

Don't forget the variations of war or as it's usually called, luck.

I'm not sure if it is coded into the game, but early in the war, the Japanese did have a definite advantage in night surface combat. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it was due to combination of superior optics (read - spotting) and superior tactics (read poor Allied organisation/tactics).

ANd of course, good old fashioned luck! [8|]

When in doubt, I always send Willis 'Ching' Lee...

"During his service in the Pacific theater, Rear Admiral Lee commanded a task force that intercepted Japanese forces attempting to recapture positions on Guadalcanal. In an action that occurred on the night of 14 and 15 November 1942, Lee's force sought out and destroyed a more powerful one, sinking the Japanese battleship Kirishima, during the engagement, his flagship, Washington, performed sterling work, maintaining steady and accurate fire with her 16-inch guns. Despite heavy losses suffered by the American force-heavy damage to South Dakota (BB-60) and the loss of two destroyers-they won a decisive victory. "

The Japanese were generally better at fighting at night.  The reasons for this are better night spotting and vision (lookouts were actually selected according to who had the best night-sight),  ship design,  far superior long-range torpedos and tactics/training.  The Japs worked out long before the US that the majority of actions in the forthcoming war with the US would be fought at night and so developed tactics for it and trained their crews as well to be well-versed in virtually any kind of night-action scenario.
For the US it was a whole new and completely unexpected ball-game, although they did learn fast, and they also invested too much hope in radar which, in 1942, was notoriously unreliable and required trained operators to disceminate what they were seeing and passing on quickly to the captains
