Checking on the Musashi. If you remember, she originally was scheduled to arrive around Dec 01, 1942. Since I acclerated her a few turns back, she is coming right along.

Pilot pools

Note that I haven't sent any instructors into the pool yet. The beta patch had introduced an error into the pilot training equation that resulted in the loss of 20% of your pilots instead of 2% in training. I hope that is fixed now.

I will probably put some pilots over into the pool after I finish the first wave of conquests.

If everything goes well, I should surprise him with hordes of zeroes, vals, and kates hitting his inland airfield next turn.

Action should be picking up again over the next few turns in all theaters. It is just taking a bit to move the troops around. It is unusaul having to work to defend Japan from air attack since normally a Japanese player doesn't have to worry about this as long as he keeps enough points in Korea to keep the Soviets from activating. Playing with the Soviets active clearly demonstrates to me why Japan kept such a large force in Korea. If they hadn't, the bear would have certainly have chewed on them well before 1945.

Turn 24: December 29, 1941

The turn had several unusual events and some disappointments for Japan. Such is the fortune of war.

To start with, I attempted to penetrate the Vladivostok mine barrier with I-153 so that I could attack his task force that kept bombarding Rashin. Unfortuneately, I-153 hit a mine and sank.

As predicted, he bombarded Rashin again. Luckily I had moved my zeroes elsewhere, and he found only a CD unit that was ready for action and engaged his ships, which were silhouetted in the moonlight.

seydlitz_slith -> RE: Nomonhan Redux: Seydlitz (Japan) vs. MBatch729 (Allies) (9/13/2009 12:45:37 AM)

Then the KB hit Bikin. For whatever reason, most of the zeroes stayed with the carriers even though I only had the cap level at 40%.

At first, his initial cap looked manageable.

seydlitz_slith -> RE: Nomonhan Redux: Seydlitz (Japan) vs. MBatch729 (Allies) (9/13/2009 12:47:08 AM)
