Yes, I have the same issue. I've run the Registry Cleaner from CCleaner and it doesn't clear the invalid registry entries. So, do we have a solution for this?

I believe that CCleaner used to accomplish the removal of incorrect entries in the "Add Remove" list but the current version does not.
Glary Utilities : http://www.glaryutilities.com/gu.html does do this.
You have to use caution, obviously.
Back up your association.
In Glary, go to Cleanup and Repair > Uninstall Manager and click on one of the instances of "PureSim" there.
Then click on "Click here for support information". A box will pop up that will tell you what version that entry is associated with.
Then click on "Delete Entry" marked by the red "X" at the top of the screen. Repeat as necessary, but don't get carried away [sm=innocent0001.gif]

I said "No thank you very much." to MS on Vista, so I can't say for sure, but the Glary web site shows that the Glary Utilities work with Vista.

Download and install the Glary Utilities, back up your association, download a fresh zip file of the most recent version of "Puresim". Hold you breath, close your eyes and pull the trigger.
It's always a bit scary to try something new, but it ought to work.
Remind yourself that it really is only a game.
That doesn't really help if things "go up in smoke", but it sounds good.

Actually with a backed up association you should be okay.

My humor gets a bit irreverent occasionally, but I do wish you well.

Every one of those entries comes from the registry.  You can hand delete all but one.  Run regedit.  They should all be in the same place. Do a search for puresim in the registry.  But be careful hand deleting anything in the registry.

You're right, of course. There's a detailed set if instructions in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Search for ("Add Delete Programs" correct listing) or something similar.
I didn't propose that because I did systems stuff for some time and concluded that having users in "my" offices muddling around in the Registry can have "three possible outcomes, and two of them are bad" to quote an old football coach.

Thanks for the tip Old Dog. Glary Utilities worked some magic on my PC. Although, I think I'm going to rebuild my OS anyway to get back to IE6. IE7 and IE8 have nasty memory leaks that are killing my PC.

I vote for Mozilla Firefox for a free browser : http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ and leave IE on the machine for those few sites that won't deal with anything else. I never voluntarily use it.
IE has a bad security reputation because Microsoft is terribly slow to fix security holes, even after they become aware of them.
I run Secunia to check the status of my security and IE routinely shows up as unecure with no known resolution.
Secunia comes in two flavors; an online exam of your system and a download.

Firefox is good, and in fact I use Google Chrome the most. That said, IE6 is a nightmare, if you are an IE user do not roll back to that version! I do think IE8 is great BTW.

Microsoft ought to hire you and put you in charge of getting security patches out for known IE problems. Their "cred" with the IT press would go up like a "home run in a silo".

I heard that expression used by an announcer to describe a pop-up that would bring rain and have always thought that it was a very evocative description of an infield sky-hi pop-up.

If I can work out the memory issue, I'll stick with IE8. Otherwise, I'm going to wipe out my PC and start fresh.

The problem I have with IE8 (and previously with IE7) is that as I view and close tabs and windows, the iexplore.exe processes don't close. Eventually, I have a bunch of IE processes eating up memory that aren't linked to any open windows. For example, I'm currently viewing only the PureSim forum, but there are five iexplore.exe processes running, all from previously closed tabs and windows.

The thing I really like about firefox is there is an extension that pretty much eliminates banner ads without even noticing what's going on.

Hi Hot Corner Dave,

You can certainly re-install Windows, but I agree with Shaun and suggest not going backwards in versions with IE. IE8 has unsolved security problems, but IE6 and 7 are worse.
I too suggest installing Firefox....or Google Chrome http://www.google.com/chrome that Shaun prefers...they're both free downloads, and selecting "make this my default browser" or some such during installation will copy your favorites to the new browser. It's a painless procedure. Heck, try 'em both...same price.
Again, I just let IE sit there, used only by those sites that require it.
Just a suggestion that works for me.
