TOAW ARTICLE INDEX

Since we no longer have a reliable TOAW Article archive, the articles are sort of scattered here and there. But I thought if we had a reliable TOAW Article Index, that would suffice. This thread will attempt to serve that function, by listing the links to all known articles. I’ve started by adding the links to mine. Other authors may want to do the same with theirs.

I hope to get this thread “stickied”. Then it will be readily available.

EDIT: Um.....so um.....I had a hard disk crash on me a year ago taking all these videos with it and so if the Mediafire link isn't
working anymore then that video isn't available for viewing. Sorry about that.

I'm putting together a collection of html documents that explains my play style for rank beginners. These are the documents I wish I had when I was learning the game. I'm limiting the size of the documents so that they are under 10M bytes in size so it won't be much of a burden to download them. These things read like a very very detailed AAR.

Thanks Bob- great idea! Not sure if it's possible, but a (small) dedicated area at Matrix could help consolidate articles (and content as opposed to links) in one place. This is my personal web space used here (not that I begrudge that at all)- as are some others I notice- which will be around for a while, but you never know for how long- some authors of good stuff are well off the TOAW scene nowadays.

Hey General Staff: Does your user ID get "retired" if you "leave the TOAW scene" ?

Well LoL you should know...

But apparently not, as long as you don't insult anyone, and even if you only show up every year or two.

For some bizarre reason though I see other things, I am always drawn back to TOAW...

larryfulkerson -> RE: TOAW ARTICLE INDEX (7/29/2010 12:25:52 AM)

The reason I'm asking is that the TOWA articles that are posted in this "sticky" using somebody's personal forum userid I'm guessing.  Curtis Lemay's ID to be exact.  So I'm  wondering if Curtis leaves us ( why in the hell would he do that? ) or dies sometime soon then this sticky thread might be stored in the bit bucket sooner or later and all these articles will be GONE.

OR

Maybe this sticky thread is already permanent just because it's "sticky".  Or is it?

Catch21 -> RE: TOAW ARTICLE INDEX (7/29/2010 12:51:32 AM)

The ID will still be around awhile- I guess sooner or later every forum 'purges' inactive members. I'd hope someone would notice a sticky would be leaving, but the links, assuming the websites that hold the data they refer to are still around, would remain in Cyberspace. It would just take someone else to collate whatever remained.

For instance- and not to self-promote but only because it's within my personal ken if you will- the arcane article 'Replacements & Reconstitution' written by my good self and posted only at TDG 'The Design Group' would have surely crept towards the doom it deserved only I noticed TDG had gone. I thus had the only remaining copy, and though there are many who would no doubt shoot me for doing so, brought it back from the brink.

There are far worthier articles, but the concept is the same. If the- sometimes- sole place it was hosted goes, only the author- and anyone who managed to copy it- has a remaining copy, though there are some internet archives where it is possible to recover material because they keep copies of old internet 'snapshots'. It's sort of internet archaeology.

The links I listed as my articles are either threads here on Matrix or on GameSquad. They'll be up so long as those two sites last. No resource of mine is being used, so my status will be irrelevant.

Hey MilRevKo dude:
Kevin and I just started a FITE ( version 5.0 ) game and I'm doing an AAR for it. You can find it here:

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2604632

I can go over the "economics" etc. for you. By that I guess you mean the replacements and the Soviet replacement rate changes etc.

larryfulkerson -> RE: TOAW ARTICLE INDEX (12/7/2010 10:56:54 PM)

For those of you who like pictures:

And for your reading pleasure: I've been doing some turns for Ben.  Well, lemme back up.......Ben asked me if I would play Campaign for South Vietnam 1965 and let him "watch over my shoulder" and I said sure, I can do that.  So I've been sending them to him every once in a while and he likes them ( so far ).  So I thought I'd publish what I have so far and add to this list when I finish them.

They are all less than 10M bytes in size so it shouldn't be a problem downloading them:

Greetz...

I know Niehorster is listed above but I wanted to point out this page on his site

http://www.orbat.com/site/ww2/drleo/000_admin/002_vols/002vols.htm

I chanced upon one of the volumes of his German organizational series (3/II) when researching Barbarossa and have found it to be absolutely the best source I have for the units it covers (on 6/22/41).

Just ordered another to get all the Bautruppen right.

Cheers

I hate when that happens. Somebody else asked me about it in a PM and I all of a sudden got the idea to do some
more recent videos and post 'em replacing the old ones because the old ones are gone. That would take a while
and while doable is difficult and time consuming and I'm going to put this bad boy task on the front burner just as
soon as I get time.
