duettoalfa -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (12/28/2013 1:44:53 PM)

Hello floydg, I've been using the tracker with no problems in my last GC. I've now started a new GC after upgrading to version 1.7.11.23u Nov16 2013 and the tracker is starting to behave funny: it opens but when I click on the various buttons the screen gets messy and when I close it I sometimes get the same message as John B. I can show you several screenshots of what I mean when I say "it gets messy" if you please. Thank you, I know you're ever so patient.
Alessandro

floydg -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (12/28/2013 9:27:46 PM)

Was this error just on startup or were you loading an additional turn?

duettoalfa -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (12/29/2013 2:41:50 PM)

I erased all the trackerdb files for I was about to start a new campaign and when I opened the tracker it started to behave funny, I then remebered I had to copy the pwsdll file from the beta2 into the tracker and I did it and I erased the db files again, with no success. I decided then to reinstall the tracker, with no improvement. But it does recognize the game because it says Daironbabes at the bottom (Iwas using the stock scenario in my last GC), so it reads the new game turn (turn #2 of the new campaign). I'm embedding a picture to show what I mean when I say "messy". Now and again the screen goes black and the pc tells me there was a failure in the video driver and that it was restarted. I remember doing sth with the video driver some time ago (I'm no computer Genius) so it might be a video driver issue. Someone suggested trying to reinstall the drivers again. Hope I made myself clear, I'm not familiar with computer Language...

This looks like a computer display issue, not WitPTracker. But it could have something to do with memory, so try increasing the allocated memory in the .BAT file. Change the "-Xms512m -Xmx512m" to "-Xms384m -Xmx640m" and see if that makes a difference.

duettoalfa -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (12/29/2013 4:50:23 PM)

lovely, I'll try that and tell you the results. Thanks

duettoalfa -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (12/29/2013 8:10:59 PM)

no, same results. by the way it was Xms384m-Xmx512m before I changed it.
Could you pls suggest what should I do even if it's got nothing to do with the tracker?

Ugh, I was working too fast. I meant change to "-Xms512m -Xmx640m". Otherwise, I don't know what else to tell you.

duettoalfa -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (12/30/2013 2:18:09 PM)

it was a problem with the video drivers indeed: dont ask me how exactly, but "with a little help from my friends" I updated the driver of my AMD radeon, but tracker didnt work all the same, then I ran into a (?) VGA graphic something and I told the pc to update its drivers too: bingo! tracker worked... but many other things didnt! so I went back to AMD radeon, restarted the pc and... it seems to be working! (cross fingers)

WRONG: I opened the tracker again, and the screen is behaving funny again.

Gents -

My two Hawaii PBY Squadrons are set to random search (identical settings) at six hex range.

Tracker map display is set to Naval / Mode (ALL) / Display: Search Arcs.

An inner sphere is yellow, x3 hex range. A outer band is also shown in a darker yellow out to x6 hex range.

I have searched the tracker forums, learned much, but am still not clear on the color differentiation.

Thank You for your help,

Mac

Yellow means random. Maybe you have a third unit doing random naval search at 3 hex range (like a float plane on a ship). The intensity should be increased as more ready planes share the same arc.

After some thought, You, Sir, are absolutely correct. I have a Surface Bombardment TF that is based at PH; the FP on-board are creating the inner search sphere.

Floyd, I have been working with Tracker for several years - could not make it through a turn without this awesome program. There are still areas I am working to understand.

Thank You for your immediate response.

The "Tracker Boys" are the best...<grin>

I am honored to but sit at your feet...

ChadS -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/3/2014 5:20:55 PM)

I'm getting the same error as John (the Array out of bounds error) after updating to the latest Beta.

When I first ran a saved game after the beta update, it told me to convert the save game file. I did so. Now, Tracker will not run on that file (or new games I create), BUT, it will run on other game saves that I have not yet converted.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!

Got my problem solved. I had failed to remember that I had to copy the pwsdll.dll file into the Tracker directory. That fixed it.

richlove -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/8/2014 9:09:29 AM)

Hopefully simple question: what's the current version of tracker, and what's its release date? My version has 1.9.2 / June 16, 2012, and I'm wondering if I'm behind.
Thanks!

floydg -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/8/2014 2:45:30 PM)

Yes, 1.9.2 is the latest. We are working on a new release (long overdue, I know).

richlove -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/8/2014 2:53:15 PM)

Thanks! Does that mean you're taking feature requests, by any chance? [:)]

floydg -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/8/2014 3:42:29 PM)

You can ask, but no assurances. We tend to work on stuff we want to... [;)]

richlove -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/9/2014 3:05:12 PM)

Another quick question: what does "upgrade to (path)" mean on the 'Air Groups and Pilots' view? I assumed that it meant 'the model selected is on the upgrade path of the planes listed', but that's not what I see when I use the filter. Thanks!

Jim Stevens -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/10/2014 12:08:13 AM)

Java is bugging me to update but I don't know it it will wipe out the jre6 that I have in a separate folder. Running jre7 right now as default version. Can I update without shooting myself in the foot?

Rookie WitPTracker questions:

- I save my last orders to save file #23
- I pull the trigger for a turn to run
- The AI also does a preturn save to #2
- turn completes and I save to #24

1st question is when I fire up WitPTracker and tell it to load turn, does it go out to where I have config'ed as my save directory and find the latest file to load?

It depends on the SaveMode setting. Check out the web site that explains how this works.

Savemode tells us where the program will look for files, understood. What throws me off is in the setup it says:

The fifth line (SaveFile) is the name of the save file you're using for the game. The save file format is wpae###.pws, where ### is the save slot number (e.g., wpae003.pws for a save in slot 3).

I have assume that this config item only applies if you are conducting a PBEM game. Is that correct?

sventhebold -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/10/2014 3:12:07 PM)

I'm having the same problem as duettoalfa and did the changes no luck. Now where do i go from here?
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms512m -Xmx640m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
pause
I'm using this and updated the java script.
WitPTracker AE properties file
# Directory of the game
Dir=[C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition]
# Type of game. 0=AI, 1=PBEM
GameType=[1]
# Side you are playing. 0=Japan, 1=Allies
Side=[0]
# Password. Only needed for PBEM
Password=[gametime]
# Name of the base save file
SaveFile=[wpae012.pws]
# Mode the program will look for save files.
# 0 = just in the local folder
# 1 = just in the game folder: [Dir]/SAVE
# 2 = local and then if not found there, the game folder
SaveMode=[2]
# Text to put in the header of the main window
Header=[wpae012]
# Turn cycle (days per turn). 1 or 2 are supported
TurnCycle=[1]
I'm running this format also.
EDIT: Fixed with the credit going to flyodg[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]

I'm not sure, but worst case is you can reinstall Java 6 afterwards anyhow.

No, the filename pattern applies to both types of games.

John B. -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/15/2014 12:46:13 AM)

I think we got it to work. I checked out Scrat's post just above (I had not thought of the Beta 2 issue) combined with Marc and Floydg's help and it's up and running. Thanks so much to everyone for their help!

castor troy -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/16/2014 7:45:56 PM)

starting a new campaign I wanted to use tracker again but got below's error message right when I double click tracker. Sry, it's in German, it means command "java" was either written wrong or couldn't be found. What? Lol,
that's a new one to me. Latest Java version is installed (did it three times with the same result). No clue what to do. Any help would be highly appreciated.

richlove -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/16/2014 7:56:44 PM)

It looks like the java.exe file isn't on your command line path. I think you'll have to provide the path to the java.exe in the .bat file, as in:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms384m -Xmx768m -jar "WitPTracker.jar" nomap

Try that?

castor troy -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (1/16/2014 8:02:20 PM)

I found the solution for above's problem on the internet which is quite surprising to me lol. Obviously I didn't have Java runtime environment installed, whatever that is. Why isn't this installed with Java together?
How should a non IT expert know this? Oh well. So I downloaded this too but wasn't really surprised that I then ran into the next problem.

See below. Does that mean tracker doesn't run on a 64bit system? Wonder why it says AMD when I have an Intel processor? Lol, oh my god...

You can not use latest Java. Tracker only works with Java 6.

Deinstalled Java 7, found Java 6 plus JRE 6 somewhere to download, installed it, everything ran smoothly, tried to fire up tracker, got the same error as above, telling me I can't run 32 bit dll on a 64 bit platform

pffffff
