Same problem to me. It was a PBEM and I mistyped password. Spent half a hour to figure out that, then corrected PW and fixed. Hoping it's going to be as easy for you, too.

gw15 -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.7.1 Available! (4/7/2016 3:54:25 AM)

I sure wish it was a PW mistype but its not. Anyone have an idea on what is causing this?

Are you using the right DLL? There are now two provided with the game. If using 32-bit Java you must use that one, if using 64-bit Java you must use that one.

gw15 -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.7.1 Available! (4/7/2016 1:38:02 PM)

Oh I agree and triple checked it before I even posted. I checked it again yesterday twice to make sure after adsoul64's post. The PW in both places match.

sorry for my stupid question but how do I find out if I'm running 32 or 64 bit Java?
I typed in "about Java" and it says Version 7 Update 71 (build 1.7.0_71-b14).
Also, are you saying WitPAE has two version of the game? I'm running WIN 7, 64-bit.

OK, I've got two answers for you. First, I just tried this and it seems to work.
https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SCM/Determining+whether+a+Java+installation+is+32+bit+or+64+bit

Open a command line prompt (in other words get the "C:\" or whatever prompt). Type in:

java -version

You will get output that looks something like this for 64-bit.

java version "1.6.0_18"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_18-b07)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 16.0-b13, mixed mode)

And something like this for 32-bit.

java version "1.6.0_21"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b07)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 17.0-b17, mixed mode, sharing)

Notice where the 64-bit one has "64-bit" in one of the lines.

Now the second answer, is that it might not matter, I might have remembered wrong. The real point might be that for a certain version of Java and later, you must use the newer type of DLL, and for older versions of Java you must stick with the older type of DLL. So, AE is now being distributed with two DLL files so you can pick the right one for your Tracker. Look in the Beta2 folder (I hope you have the Beta loaded). Among other things, you will see:

pwsdll.dll

AND

pwsdll7.dll

If you are using a Java version lower than 7, you must use pwsdll.dll.

If you are using a Java version 7 or higher, you must use pwsdll7.dll.

Whichever one you need, just copy it into your tracker folder.

Above I mentioned "I hope you have the Beta loaded". You do not need the Beta for this to work! However, it looks like the file pwsdll7.dll is not included in the main (non-Beta) installation. So you can download/install the Beta to get the file. You still do not have to run the Beta.

BillBrown -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.7.1 Available! (4/7/2016 4:49:54 PM)

I tried the 64-bit Java. It would load the existing data base and the UI. But, it would not load a new turn.
Both of the DLLs are for 32-bit Java, but the one with a 7 in the name will load turns using Java 7 or 8.

gw15 -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.7.1 Available! (4/7/2016 5:35:06 PM)

thank you witpgs.
based on your instructions:
I'm running 32 bit java
Version 7.
I checked and pwsdll7.dll is in the folder.
I copied turn 2 of pbem game into the folder and ran tracker.
I got a whole bunch of new error messages.
But I ran tracker a second time...it worked!
I did nothing between the first and second times I ran tracker.

I really thank you guys for helping. I realize it takes your time to answer my stupid questions.

witpqs -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.7.1 Available! (4/7/2016 7:09:45 PM)

Note that some error messages are issued for Tracker finding messages in the various report files that it is not yet programmed to recognize (not a meaningful problem). Good luck!

Chris21wen -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.7.1 Available! (4/16/2016 10:30:27 AM)

My hard drive crashed so I have a new all singing all dancing Win 10 except tracker doesn't dance.

Here's the version of Java

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10586]
(c) 2015 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>java -version
java version "1.8.0_77"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_77-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.77-b03, mixed mode, sharing)

C:\WINDOWS\system32>

Here's the error message

C:\Matrix Games\WitP AE RA\WitP Tracker Allied>"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_77\bin\java" -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -jar "WitPTracker.jar nomap"
Error: Unable to access jarfile WitPTracker.jar nomap

C:\Matrix Games\WitP AE RA\WitP Tracker Allied>pause
Press any key to continue . . .

From the forum I think I need a pwsdll7 but I don't have such a thing.

Could someone point me it the correct direction please.

floydg -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.7.1 Available! (4/16/2016 12:14:17 PM)

You haven't even made it that far where the DLL matters. Are you running this from the folder where WitPTracker is located?

BillBrown -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.7.1 Available! (4/16/2016 2:10:39 PM)

Nomap should be outside the parentheses.

Chris21wen -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.7.1 Available! (4/16/2016 2:11:17 PM)

OK sorted.

The post actually said where pwsdll7.dll is but I missed it first time through. It's in the beta2 folder so copied it to tracker folder deleting old one and renamed pwsdll7 to just pwsdll and it all works.

It say so 4 post earlier or have I misunderstood?

'If you are using a Java version lower than 7, you must use pwsdll.dll.
If you are using a Java version 7 or higher, you must use pwsdll7.dll. '

Tracker folder is located in the WitP folder I'm trying to use it on. E.g C:\Matrix Games\WitP AE RA
The batch file is in that tracker folder.

This is my properties file

# WitPTracker AE properties file
# Directory of the game
Dir=[C:\Matrix Games\WitP AE RA]
# Type of game. 0=AI, 1=PBEM
GameType=[0]
# Side you are playing. 0=Japan, 1=Allies
Side=[1]
# Password. Only needed for PBEM
Password=[abc123]
# Name of the base save file
SaveFile=[wpae003.pws]
# Mode the program will look for save files.
# 0 = just in the local folder
# 1 = just in the game folder: [Dir]/SAVE
# 2 = local and then if not found there, the game folder
SaveMode=[1]
# Text to put in the header of the main window
Header=[Allied wpae003]
# Turn cycle (days per turn). 1 or 2 are supported
TurnCycle=[1

However I deleted nomap and it ran but crashes during initialisation with this message.

Which version of WitPTracker are you running? The latest version is packaged with pwsdll7.dll.

And I hard-coded pwsdll7.dll into the code in the latest version. The pwsdll.dll file won't be used any more. But pwsdll7.dll should work with Java 6, 7 and 8, I believe.

We crossed post.

However you told me something I did not realise and that is I do not have the latest version of tracker. I will correct that now.

Thanks

Just started RHS Scenario 2. Run Tracker for the first time and got this error message. I'm assuming it can't read the whole line as the line contains 63 characters and the string is restricted to 60. Tracker will open but I do not know if all of the operation file has been read. Is there a simple fix?

Something in the operations report is causing an issue. This is non-fatal and the rest of the turn load will work, but whatever is after that bad line in the operations file will be ignored.

If you send me the file (witptracker @ gmail.com), I can take a look.

Chris21wen -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.10 Available! (4/17/2016 3:57:29 PM)

Further, I've looked at the ops file and this is the first line in it.  Other lines are longer so I'm now at a loss.

Don't count the line lengths, it's not that (specifically).

OK. Any ideas what the problem is?

Chris21wen -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.10 Available! (4/18/2016 7:45:23 AM)

I've been tinkering. If you delete the first two lines the error disappears.

There are two further errors that do not to stop the file loading and appear unconnected.

Starting game as Japan, so I need Tracker up and running very soon. Copy & pasted dll7 from Beta2 and got this message. Now what?

BillBrown -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.10 Available! (4/18/2016 11:27:48 PM)

This is copied from the witpaetracker web site:

This will show up as an error message:

Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform

This error message is usually because you haven’t installed the Microsoft C++ libraries. But if you have then it can also be because you’ve not got Java 32 installed and configured properly.
Solutions:
Step 1. Check C++ Libraries.
Check you have the C++ Libraries installed, if not, install the 32 bit version (even if you have a 64 bit OS.)
Check here for installation.

Step 2. Check you have 32 bit Java
Check you have 32 bit Java installed. If you are working on a 64 bit OS, then you can have both installed.

Change your witptracker.bat file to point to the 32 bit Java executable (you need the quotes because of the space) - this varies on different machines so you'll need to check the path:

32bitOS users
C:\"Program Files"\Java\jre6\bin\java -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
pause
64bitOS users
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
pause

You must run WitPTracker from the batch file. There is an executable file that might solve your problem if you've done the step above at the bottom of this page.

Your just talking about the two warning lines and not the other error?

I have a dababes scenario loaded on tracker but the devices list is the official one and the first turn listed turn>turn list has the name of another save. What could be the problem?

I'm no expert on Tracker, but have you checked your witptracker.properties file in the Tracker install directory?

Step #1: Download a good text editor if you don't already have one. I recommend Notepad++.

Step #2: Check the settings in the witptracker.properties file as indicated in red below -

[image]http://i.imgur.com/gXBs0Wm.png[/image]

Step #3: You might as well check all the other settings to make sure they are appropriate for your current game save.

Try to delete all trackerdb.*** files. This 'clean' the tracker. Then take the pwsdll.dll file (you find in WitPAE default folder for the stock, in the Beta2 folder for the Michaelm beta patch) and paste it in the tracker folder. I don't know if this last step is required, but I read this some time ago (don't remember where, maybe in the .txt that comes with the tracker?) and for me always worked well. Hope this help.

Dili -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.10 Available! (5/20/2016 3:11:46 PM)

Korvar all that is okay. Cohimbra discovered the reason - thanks - i had to delete all trackerdb files.
