Al Boone -> patch 1084 seaplane overstack (9/13/2009 2:25:17 AM)

I have started a new TTMW scene game under patch 1084. The patch 1084 Readme file lists under Code Change 69: Seaplanes are no longer counted against the aircraft stacking level when in a coastal hex. Referring to the screen dump below, this does not seem to be true since 11 groups are supported which is 2 over the allowable number of groups by base/HQ count. (Forget that the base is also over by engine count).

Found issue. It is only working for a plane type less than 128.
Seems I used a too small a variable.
Will be corrected.

Note that the seaplanes will NOT count against the aircraft stack only. Still will count against groups present.

Now I am thoroughly confused! I thought that the intent was to not count seaplanes for:
1) base aircraft group count for overstacking (e.g. - number of squadrons, etc.)
2) Aircraft engine count for overstacking.
Both 1 and 2 are logical for a water based seaplane unit (group) possibly 39 miles from the airbase in the same hex with their own support AVs.

It seems that you are saying NO to 1) and YES to 2)?

Nomad -> RE: patch 1084 seaplane overstack (9/13/2009 4:31:38 PM)

I wonder if it is possible for an AV to have a HQ effect of 1 or 2 for group counting in a future patch? It does seem somewhat logical.

I think that it is easiest to just ignore seaplanes relative to base airfield overstacking. They will still be eligible for aviation support penalties without adequate AV type ship support.

bump!
(hopefully to michaelm et al)
Isn't it possible and more realistic to just ignore seaplanes relative to overstacking for both engine and group count since they still will suffer any effects of deficient AVIATION SUPPORT, but are not typically physically and administratively located at airbases?
