Rich Dionne -> Semi-Historical Midway - May 42 Start (6/14/2002 2:33:47 AM)

O.K. Guys,

Many of you have been wanting a Scenario starting 1 May 42 that included the historical results of Midway. While we did give you Scenario 16, "Yamamoto's Prophecy", that incorporates the historical Midway results with a start date of 1 June 42, I know some of you would still like to see a start date of 1 May 42. Here's a way you can create a semi-historical using the UV Campaign Editor, yourself. Finally, a chance to make you guys do some of the typing! :p :D

Now this isn't perfect, the Yorktown is a key problem, but here's what you can do...

Open your handy dandy UV Campaign Editor (it's in the "scen" directory).

Open scenario 17 and then save it as, say, file 25 (must be greater than 20), and give it a new name.

Go to the ships tab (you should already be there) and make the following changes:

1) Change the delay dates of the following ships to 9999: Akagi, Kaga, Hiryu, Soryu, Mikuma, Hamman, I-164 (A delay value of 9999 will make these ships unavailable in the game). Use the "Find" button to help you find the ships (make sure you include the capital letter, this tool is case sensitive).

2) O.K. Here's the only drawback. You need Yorktown for the Battle of the Coral Sea, but it was lost at Midway. So change the delay of Hornet, yes Hornet to 9999. You have now lost a Yorktown "Class" carrier at Midway, just not the Yorktown.

3) Change the delay on Enterprise to 75. It didn't depart Pearl for Guadalcanal invasion support until 15 July 42.

4) Save the file.

5) Bingo! You now have a new scenario starting 1 May 42 that incorporates, semi-historically, the Battle of Midway.

Regards,

Rich

Hi,

Thanks for this. I like it better than #16.

Another option for the Yorktown is just keep sending her back to Pearl! That is if you don't lose her at Coral Sea!

Run the Yorktown without escort to Rabaul. With planes on board of course. That should take care of the problem. Especially if you put it on "Do Not Retire". :D

p.s. Be sure there's no admiral (that you like, anyway) on board! :D

To the moderator:

Just a suggestion:

Maybe have a sticky thread at the top of this forum that could include links to all the mods, additions and scenarios that will be created for this great game. . .

Hate to see them all get lost in the maze of threads. . .
