bo -> should not be? (9/15/2009 1:40:38 AM)

Playing the d-day mod as the allies one of my armored units with Patton the commander got trapped at the bottom of the map of France, the move before I got trapped by 6 axis units, but survied the multiple attack and the one on one attacks that came after the multiple attack, I did not want to lose Patton so I removed him from the trapped unit [figured it could not be done] and Lo and behold he showed up in my commander windows, that cant be right it is either a bug that the playtesters missed or they want it that way, there were no cities around no port no nothing please advise.

Tomokatu -> RE: should not be? (9/15/2009 8:56:03 AM)

I think that command staffs can and should always be extractable from dire situations.
I'm thinking (Australian) General Gordon Bennet escaping from Singapore with most of his staff in 1942 as well as "Dugout Doug" MacArthur making his strategic withdrawal from the Philippines by PT boat. (I don't believe he allowed his staff the same option - could be wrong.)

Thank you Tom good example but would it not behoove you to go after a high ranking general and take him out, in this game you cant, MacArthur was removed by water with Pt boats he was not surrounded, in the game I played there was absolutley no way to extradite Patton from this situation, I think it should be corrected.

Even a surrounded force can be reached by a little scout plane. Hanna Reitsch flew a Storch into besiged Berlin to kiss Hitler on the mouth one last time. Landed in the Tiergarten on 26 April 1945, and flew out two days later.

Here is a thought, what if one of the members of "Inglorious Bastards" got to him, right after he took out one of the German divisions, mind you all by himself, and escorted him him to St Lo, where he met up with the band of brothers who took him to the coast and he swam back to England, all in one week.

Thank you Hoth never thought of that one thats why you and your family could not sleep well at night with me in command of the armies of either side, NO imagination.

I don't know why, but I thought it was funny. Just went to that movie last night, it was horrible...sorry to offend.
