Leeds -> Artillery Question! (9/19/2009 6:43:28 PM)

Does my artillery have to have a direct LOS to its target?

Why cant my units 'observe' the enemy and then call in Indirect Fire?

V22 Osprey -> RE: Artillery Question! (9/20/2009 1:48:30 AM)

Because back in those times artillery wasn't like that.Artillery fired straight at the target, and thus had to be in line of sight.In these times, the only type of Arty that really was "Indirect" were mortars.Also, there was no "call in" in those days either.Targets were at the Commander's discretion.Lose the WWII mentality.[:D]

As V22 said - cannons could not be angled up but, one game, "Shiloh" (Pittsburgh Landing), one can do indirect fire with naval guns (from gunboats).

But that never does much damage, and is wildly inaccurate.

That's why I rarely use it [:D] - but, without spotters radioing in the results, accuracy just doesn't happen with indirect fire.
