BYU 14 -> OK decision time (9/19/2009 10:41:43 PM)

This is meant for those that have played both this and GOA (Which I enjoyed, just wish it was deeper)

Has WW1 surpassed GOA now with the latest patches? I wanted to try the Demo after the patches, but you only get one trial.

So, in your opinions have you gotten your moneys worth out of this game. I will trust the consensus.

JudgeDredd -> RE: OK decision time (9/19/2009 10:57:26 PM)

Haven't played it in quite some time. Not because it's bad...just got other games.

It's still installed and I intend to go back to it once I've completed some other games. Not alot of help, but there it is. [;)]

For what is worth and based on the comments here and over at AGEOD I will wait for the Gold Edition and if that's not published, give it a pass entirely.

Regards.

While I still play GoA occasionally, I do prefer WW1. It is somewhat deeper, but still has the typical strategic ai failing, not to mention a strange map.

I recall reading that there will be a discount for WW1 Gold for the owners of WW1, so your purchase now will not be a total loss. I suspect that when the new game is released, this one will rapidly fade, if for no other reason, the map. You will not have many human opponents available with this title. Still, this is an interesting game to play.

Hi BYU.
Haven't purchased GOA, since it never promised to carry the level of detail I was looking for.
I bought WW1 a few weeks ago for a nice price over the internet and I like it. It has a steep learning curve and without the extended manual you might get lost (I'm still struggling with naval warfare).
I especially like the level of histroical accuracy, detail and a pretty good AI. You can explore almost infinite options of different styles of warfare and strategies.
Map orientation has not been an issue for me.
I do hope there are some more fixes in the pipeline, as sometimes "funny" things happen - although nothing that is a real "game breaker".
And yes: it has no PBEM option and online games are not for everybody...

Cheers,
Chris

Great feedback guys, thank you. This will be a definite purchase for me, but I think I will wait for the gold edition, if for nothing else the Map orientation :)

In the meantime TOW should keep me busy.
