Creeper -> Printed manual ? (9/22/2009 11:26:09 PM)

Can we expect a printed manual in the boxed version? [&:]
HS, do you have any info about it?

bigmilt -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/22/2009 11:32:09 PM)

An earlier post said it was going to be a pdf.

mikkey -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/22/2009 11:45:31 PM)

this game is release as Digital Express Edition: This edition comes with a full color printed box, full color printed CD (with your order number and serial number printed on it) and a PDF E-Book indexed manual only[:(].

Really? [:(]
I can understand that a "simple" game like e.g. Operation Barbarossa do not need a printed manual.
But a complex game like ED2BTR is crying for a printed manual... ( I think ).

I would like a printed manual if at all possible. I know just call me crazy...

Valgua -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/23/2009 9:38:54 AM)

Actually, I don't see a good reason for buying the boxed version of the game if the manual is in pdf...

mikkey -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/23/2009 10:53:43 AM)

yes, you right, without manual is better buy digital download version only

BigDuke66 -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/23/2009 5:17:14 PM)

I hope any changes that may occur in the future are updated in the PDF so we have a manual that is up-to-date, that would be the advantage for a pdf manual, who needs a print manual that is sooner or later out of date?

K.Pooley -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/23/2009 8:38:54 PM)

Oh no! No one told us you would want it updating as well...[X(]

Adam Parker -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/23/2009 11:46:43 PM)

How useful or applicable are the original game manuals? I'm lucky enough to have those.

Johnus -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/24/2009 3:42:45 AM)

I have the old manuals as well (never actually played the old games) and I am hoping they are useful. Sounds like the games have been much improved, but employ the same basic game play.

Can anyone from Matrix confirm ??

harley -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/24/2009 4:42:47 AM)

The planning and defending aspects are essentially the same, where the attacker plots raids to targets, setting the alt, time, and waypoints. The attacker then presses the go button, and the defender reacts in real-time to the planned raids. At this point the attacker just gets to watch, hope, curse and if they are inclined, pray.

Where we made changes are to the internals of the game - sweeps can now loiter, there are more waypoints, fighter-bombers can sweep, and all returning fighters and FB's can attack and defend. Loads more stuff that we've mostly forgotten. It sounds like we and the WITP:AE guys came up with a similar solution to altitude, too, where our AC are affected by alt in 3000' bands, I think they used 5000'. So some AC are dogs, but get better, others go the other way. We also changed the replacement system to allow for start and stop dates of AC, so Ron was able to make about 6 variants of the Thunderbolt, some which are only around for a few months.

So, for the old manual, the general ideas are still valid, but much on the minitiea is not.

BigDuke66 -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/24/2009 5:18:09 AM)

It would be nice if all those changes could be listed up so one can see what was really improved over the old games.
Could be a nice advertisement too.

First,
I second this motion.
I walk over to the corner coffeshop, and re-read the manual looking for those little hidden tid-bits!

Second,
Since it is a PDF... why not post the latest version of the manual at the top of the forum.

What would that be good for? You buy the game and you get the manual.

Oliver Heindorf -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/24/2009 4:00:25 PM)

No full colored printed manual in the box = no sale (to me).

and plz dont come up that I can print out the stinking' pdf at staples or if you like at the northpole.....
I know that already.....I know what I CAN do, but I dont want to do it.....simple as that. [8|]

release a CL Edition of this game and you get my order Mr. Matrix.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Printed manual ? (9/24/2009 5:21:04 PM)

Sorry Oliver, that was not going to be possible for this release. Printing out the manual yourself is really a reasonable option, you can do it for about $20 and get it spiral bound in many places. In the meantime, the E-Book manual has other advantages of its own as well and many folks who are interested in this release also still have their original manuals to boot.

ekcut -> RE: Printed manual ? (10/13/2009 3:28:19 AM)

Is the pdf manual available for d/l?
I'm sitting on the fence as to whether or not I am going to buy the game, and the manual will probably tell me all I need to know to make my decision.
