Can someone give a rundown on this game? Subject matter is intriguing, but I need some feel for what this game is before I spend $$. A few screeshots and how this game improves on the old BoB and BTR doesn't do the trick.

I can handle AE complexity, and I like it.

What's involved in a turn? What do I get to watch happen? How does a campaign unfold? What all do I manage?

What scenarios and camapaigns are available?

I think you need to be a prop-head (and I use that term as a compliment!) to enjoy this game. Check out the AAR's and you will see these guys really understand what's going on behind the scenes based on real world tactics, aircraft performance and the like.

I recently played the two original games, but could never fully understand what was happening and why. I really want to buy this one myself as I am a Matrix addict, but expect more of the same. Without higher resolutions and some kind of editor, I will forego it for now.

But let us know what you think if you go for it!

It's not as complex, just think about UV/WitP, limited to Airforce assignments. However, the big difference here comes from asymetric gameplay and realtime turn resolution, which can last for 30 min. or more. During this phase the defender has to intercept as many raids as possible, while for the attacker is nothing left to do but staring on the screen. So it's best to played as PBEM

I play AE as well. I like playing as the Allies. IF you really want a good effect, wear a bomber hat, have a bank of Phones ringing in the background, cold coffee in a cup.

As the Allies, the biggest part of your time is spent planning the recon, the Raids, Fighter Sweeps and escorts. Picking the Lead Bombing Unit, and your strategy for the campaign, hit the Rubber factories, or go for Oil, or the Aircraft Plants. Once you start the turn, as the Allied Commander your the guy listening to the reports (watching the screen) and you have to hope your day/night plans for raids work, and there is always the weather, will the weather hold......
