StoneAge -> What to do with Burma Garrisons (9/25/2009 5:31:09 AM)

How do I break units up small enough to deal with all the 5 AV Garrison bases in Burma. (house rule "all Garrison bases must be Garrisoned")

I was thinking I would use a 60 AV unit and load them onto a 6 xAK TF. Split this TF into 6 seperate TF's and land them at the bases or march them overland 1 at a time.

Is this the best way or is there a better way.

Bassein 5
Lashio 5
Magwe 5
Mandalay 5
Mektila 5
Moulmein 5
Myitkyna 5
Pegu 5
Prome 5
Rangoon 150
Shwebo 5
Taung Gyi 5
Toungoo 5

is not more simple use small burmese unit already here? with exp 20 are think are here for this..yes you use 10 AV somewhere where 5 are needed but... the only exception are Rangoon itself

All the Burmese garrison towns have satisfactory garrison at start except Lashio.  So just use what you get in the beginning - maybe if you turn replacements "On" for the Lashio unit it can fill out to the 5 required - or bring a Chinese Division in.

If I am not mistaken, if you bring in a Chinese unit to this area, the Japanese get some kind of extra units activated. I think I read that somewhere in the manual, so becareful.

That applies only to Vietnam, not Burma.

Garrison the areas that you want.  Let the others be damaged.  If the Japanese take them, they will have to repair the infrastructure.  In this case, the angry mobs are working for you.  Or you can rationalize it as sending out small parties to destroy the airbase, ports and forts before the Japanese can take them.

they have HR to prevent this tactic (see first post) and if you leave a base FREE (and with only 5 of garrison requirment is difficult to be undergarrisoned a base with unit in it) there is a low probability that the base change side

Chickenboy -> RE: What to do with Burma Garrisons (10/8/2009 5:59:26 PM)

If you've already agreed on a HR for mandatory fixation of your formerly mobile troops in theater, then I'd keep the Burmese army forces on duty and head for the hills with the British forces-evacuate them ASAP. Due to their very low experience, the Burmese forces are next to worthless in any stand up fight. Garrison activity is about the extent of their value.

You can use air transport to split up a unit and it's usually a lot more convienent.

Send them to India to free up the IND brigades. Idea from nemo121.

treespider -> RE: What to do with Burma Garrisons (5/14/2010 12:30:40 PM)

Ummm I believe the Garrison effects have been changed in a patch to a VP hit and supply destruction...not sure that industry is damaged anymore.

Sredni -> RE: What to do with Burma Garrisons (5/14/2010 1:41:13 PM)

In my game vs the AI when I left cities without their garrisons I was taking VP hits each turn (it was 1 vp per city per turn usually) and airfield and port facilities were being damaged. Industry wasn't.

erstad -> RE: What to do with Burma Garrisons (5/15/2010 12:57:29 AM)

Also, one of the patches removed most if not all of the 5AV garrisons in Burma.

Smeulders -> RE: What to do with Burma Garrisons (5/15/2010 9:06:32 AM)

True, but that is only for games started after that patch, so there are again two different situations out there.
