Time Traveller -> Why all the complaining? I'm impressed (9/27/2009 9:31:45 AM)

After all the complaining I did as to why it took such a long, long, looooong time to release this title, I have to say that after recently purchasing and playing Eagle Day Bombing the Reich, I am impressed. And no, I'm not a Matrix fan boy. I just tell it like it is. I used to play the originals a long time ago, and loved them. There were many bugs in the originals, but they were still good games. Now they are great games with this release. I cannot imagine how many hours of entertainment over the coming years I will get from playing this updated release. Well worth the $50 I paid. It seems now that most of the old bugs were squashed. I am not sure why some people are complaining about graphics not being updated. I for one am sick and tired of game designers these days releasing games with mostly fluff and little filling. Give me mediocre graphics and great game play ANYDAY.

I know there are a few performance problems many people are having with v1.0 release, but I have full confidence that future patches will be released to address these problems. The direct X fix worked for me, but now my scrolling is too fast. Go figure. [&:]

I do have two requests in future patches, though. One, please add a button for adjusting message speed. Second, please add a button for adjusting screen scroll speed (mine is way too fast). That's all I ask. Thanks to all the designers and play testers for this wonderful release that we have all waited so long for. [:D]

I played the original and loved it. From my first try of this game I think that this would be a worthy upgrade, however, the performance issues need to be addressed, I have a quad core Intel chip and it is sluggish to almost unplayed without disabling direct draw.  However, I feel that many of these issues will be well addressed by Matrix and the development team.

I agree. I could care less about fancy graphics. I think the release is a decent upgrade from the original. Luckly, I have seen none of the performance issues others speak about. It runs fine on my computer.

I somehow missed the originals of these back in the Talonsoft days. I have also had to a work around with the directdraw, but I find this game enormous fun which is the main ingredient. [:)]

I am loving the game too. I mean first off, it works on Vista 64 and future 64 bit platforms.
That right there is reason enough to buy the game.

Second it combines two games into one. Third it gets the code and ability to make changes into the hands of those who will support the game and make future patches and hopefully new scenarios.

My one and only disappointment with the new game is the plane top art. The planes overall just look too small and none of them are to scale. In the original BTR the B-17s and Lancs were huge and hulking on the screen while the fighters were faster and more nimble.
Now the B-17s are a ugly yellow-brown color (which looks like early days PTO colors or clay) and my BF-109s are the same size if not bigger.

Hopefully some artwork comes down the line to where the B-17s are returned to their wonderful olive drab color and return to their large size.
The P-47s were a cool mixture of yellow and silver. The P-51s were almost all silver and late war B-17s were a huge mass of shiny unpainted metal.

But in the overall course of things that is a minor gripe. The new plane side art is awesome and looks better than before and the rest of the game is tweaked and cleaned up for a overall better experience.
And future mods I am sure will provide me art work I am happier with.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Why all the complaining? I'm impressed (9/27/2009 8:26:05 PM)

for the top art, we got to work with what we got, which was the size first programmer asked for, when we took over, it was too late to change it

but what Harley wants is, 180*180 and he can do all kinds of things with the planes, and some of the test samples one of the "Buddies" did, look awesome

but, that is a down the road, if we can, when we can

Why is everyone blaming Matrix for these hardware problems...

As far as I know DirectX belongs to another company well known for their responsiveness to customer feedback (very very TIC) and all of the other older program updates have worked just fine up till the advent of the new multicore processors. Once again has that 'Other' company provided robust & seamless support for legacy programs running under multicores on their operating system???

Come on guys give credit where credit is due, Matrix are doing the best they can to come up with work arounds but this really isn't their issue (they just have to live with it).
