MECH ENGINEER -> NAVAL INTELLIGENCE REPORT (11/5/2000 8:54:00 PM)

WARNING: During the assault on Omaha Beach the USS Saterlee was destoryed by a single shot from an anti-tank emplacement, a 75mm PAK40. High loss of life. It was almost as unbelievable as the Hood, at least it was either Bismarck or Prinz Eugen. Has this happened to anyone else? ------------------ "When do we get our flamethrowers, Top?"

I've lost a number of ships to land-based fire (not from forts, etc.). It definately happens.

Happens in real life too! During the Argentine invasion of the Falklands, the Royal Marines crippled a gunboat, and badly damaged a destroyer with just a Carl Gustav

Hello all , during the landings in D-day the ships ( DD , CL , CA Etc ...) stayed well away from the beaches because of those emplacements , and the mines of course , I beleive only 2 or 3 DD gave real close support to the beaches ....
