BPRE -> Pilot replacement bug? (10/7/2009 8:43:26 PM)

Hi,

It looks like pilot replacements are sent from the reserve pool to air units as soon as they go into battle even though they have far more pilots than planes already as it is. This happens with replacements set to Off also.

A case that was really obvious was the AVG/3rd Squadron.

I moved it to China at the very beginning of the war but on 27/12/41 I moved it back into Burma and sent it into action as LRCAP over Rangoon. It had 28 pilots in the squadron and 26 in the Reserve pool. Before this no pilot had any missions listed.

28/12/41 1 plane lost but no pilot. No change in pilot numbers but some are listed as having flown missions.

29/12/41 there's 35 pilots in the squadron and 19 in the pool.

30/12/41 there's 46 pilots in the squadron and 8 in the pool.

During this time Replacements were off all the time and I did not pull any pilots into the squadron manually.
At the beginning there are very few squadrons with so many spare pilots so normally you wouldn't notice it.

I've checked the manual but it only says that pilots will be added when there are more ready planes than pilots which never was the case here.

Is this a known feature?

PS. Here's the save from 28/12/41

I don't know if players realize this but if a pilot has a delay of 1, then he is really 'in the group' and is available as a replacement.
The 'No replacements' wont affect him if the group needs to man a plane.

Hi Michael,

If I understand you correctly these pilots have a delay of 1 because they are listed as belonging to a squadron in the replacement list.
Since I had more pilots than planes all the time does it mean that some of them were grounded due to fatigue or similar and the computer then brought in the pilots from the list to man the planes?

Best regards
BPRE
