bjfagan -> CTD's now make game unplayable (10/8/2009 2:08:07 AM)

I have had several games that CTD during the the multiple Routine Air Operations phases. All games were using the latest patch. One as the Japanese on a Vista machine at my office and two others as the Allies on a laptop using XP.

The first game as the Allies was one I had been playing since the game came out. I had worked my way up to the summer of 42 and updated it when the last patch came out. This game crashed and since I thought it could have been related to being an older version initially, I reluctantly decided to start a new game. I only had one save file on the first game, but made several of them in the new game. Then on 12/16/41 the game crashed. I went back to my several save game files and none would get past the same point. I even tried doing a two day turn cycle from my 12/15/41 turn, but the game still crashed at the same exact point on 12/16/41.

I am now afraid to spend any time playing this game, knowing that it could all be pointless. Where can I send my savegame files to have them looked at and hopefully fixed?

Sorry to hear, I haven't had a CTD in 100's of hours ...

Attach you save here and please give details of where it happens

Here are two save game files in a zip. The 003 file is my old game that I played to 6/42 and 004 is the game I restarted but only got to 12/16/41. They both crash during the multiple Routine Air Operations sequences after you end the turn.

Thank you for looking at them.

EDIT: Okay this is odd. Since I had to put the save game file on my office computer so I could zip it, I thought I would try playing it and wouldn't you know, it ran fine. Then I took the save game file, for 12/17/41 now, and put it back on to my laptop and it crashed at the exact same spot. So, I am guessing something is wrong with my laptop, but why now after weeks of no problems. It still doesn't explain why the game I played as the Japanese crashed on my office computer. Looks like I will have to do some more testing here.

Neither save has been saved under 1084e.

This hotfix corrected a overflow issue which causes intermittent CTD.
Try applying the hotfix and see if that stops the CTD on the laptop.

Well that fixed it. I didn't realize that I had missed a hotfix.

Thank you very much. [&o]
