Ok, I'd like to know if I don't know how to use the Kidobutai Dive Bombers, or if there is any bug or design decission that has nerfed them. Thing is I'm unable to set up them to get more than 3 or 4 hits agains surface battle ships (for example, in pearl harbour after a SP campaign opening, or in Coral Sea scenario), taking into account that Kates seem to get 3 or 4 times as many hits as the dive bombers (and I think this is unrealistic). I mean, am I wrong and Dive Bombers were as bad? What's the best way to use them?.

Until now, I make them operate in normal range, between 6000 and 9000 feet and with a 10-20% of naval search. Am I doing something wrong or dive bombers are now crap?

In stock WITP, iirc the Dive Bombers had to be set at an alt above 8k feet to dive bomb, otherwise they'd level bomb.  Then iirc if you set them above 16k feet, they'd attack "9 planes" at a time, instead of just "4 planes at a time".

I usually set my Vals to bomb the airfield anyway, they are much, much better at that than bombing BBs. The 250kg bomb just bounces off the armor anyway.

I thought it was below 10k they glidebomb, 10k-15k they divebomb in sections of 4, and above 15k they do it in sections of 9.

I set mine to 15k. They bomb in 9's.

I set mine at 16k so they have hits, it will be multiple hits. Below that, they hit less often and the hits are singular, generally..

Ok, so I see I was setting them too low, and that's the reason of the poor performance.

Wouldn't it be better to set them lower when going after weaker, more numerous targets like transport TF's? Seems like overkill to send in packets of 9 for single xAK, smaller groups would spread the damage more.

You answer you own question it depends on the target! Capital ships higher for exessive damage to high value target, Transports lower to spread out damage.

Is this correct for AE? Can anyone confirm. Pretty big piece of info that I didn't see in the manual ... THanks for the confirm.
