I thought an akv loaded ac sqdns undamaged but GC Dec 22 I get my first chance to use one of these ships in Cape Town and am having no luck loading the Hurricane sqdn there in pristine shape. It loads damaged just as it would on any cargo vessel. Is there a particular way to load a sqdn to avoid this?

Did you try loading them with the "load troops" button instead of "transfer to ship" button?  I've used AKV's (in an Air Transport TF) that way and had no trouble at all loading whole squadrons without damage.

I've never checked their status while on board an AKV, but they have always unloaded in a ready-to-go condition...

I'm fairly sure an AKV will display "loaded as cargo" but they will unload in the same condition as loaded i.e. fully operational squadron will unload ready to go.

I used load troops. I'll post a followup after I unload indicating whether they unload intact or damaged.

Well I've been trying to load a hurricane squadron from E Africa (not Mombasa) without any success, it just won't t'fer to any fo the cargo ships in port.  However,  reading the above would it be better to load it from the AK's point of view as a 'load troops' then load the squadron (in boxes)

Uh, have you checked to see if it's assigned to a restricted HQ? And you say "transfer." To me, that implies that you are trying to "transfer" to a ship, rather than "load" it. So, is that just a figure of speech, or are you pushing the "transfer" button? Those seem like the two most likely (if not only) reasons why an aircraft unit won't load at a good-sized port like Cape Town.

No, it's not a restricted unit, at least it doesn't have 'R' attached to its name.  I have tried to transfer it several times to empty AK's moored up at the docks without any success.  however if you are saying that go into the ship display menu itself and say 'load unit' then load the squadron from there I will have a go at this as I am wondering if I have been going at this from the wrong angle...

Yeah, I wasn't real clear.  Sorry.  To load planes on a ship, I always use the "load" button on the TF screen just like when I'm loading troops, except when I'm "flying" a unit to a carrier.  In that case, I use the "transfer" button on the aircraft unit screen.

No, these hurricane's couldn't fly onto the freighter, not without causing themselves extreme damage.  THey'd have 2 be crated up and loaded on by crane.  Thanks I will try that way out

Carrier = CV, CVE, etc.  
Carrier <> AK, xAK, xAKL, etc.

AKVs seem to work ok. My only problem with AKVs is that they only transport one squadron and then have a lot of space left for cargo. Wouldn't it be better if they could load several squadrons at one go? They do seem big enough...

The squadron was deck cargo. There really wasn't that much room for more. When they wanted to send several squadrons, they used a carrier.

Hmm... I can't unload a squadron that is onboard an AKV.
It just sits there, "ordered to unload" hwile loaded as cargo and nothing happens... Port level 4. Docked. I changed even the mission type trying to unload as Cargo, Transport and Air Transport.
...week just passed, and my fighters are inprisoned there with no way to go out.
Anybody noticed any problems with unloading air squadrons?

Perhaps is it a small port where other ships are unloading? When the dock is full, most things will still unload slowly (simulating small barges and the like transferring cargo). However, some things - like airplanes - are too big for that and must wait for the ships to get space at the dock.

That's a single AKV, docked, port level 4. No other transports around.
Sitting for weeks.. as I remember it I might have changed the mission type several times to find the way to unload.
Planes are damaged, so it suggests, it's not a simple "Air transport" mission...
Strange, I think I've read an AAR that someone complained about the issue, but can't find it... :(

They might have become 'damaged' when you changed mission types to try and get them unloaded.

Whether air transport or transport, they should have unloaded the turn of arrival or the turn after.

One more possibility - is there an airfield there? I mean built above level 0 already?

If it's not that, then try loading a save in the tech support forum.

It's Fusan with airfield of lvl 7.
Funny... while it says the planes are damaged in the squadron view, when clicked at PLANES it shows they're ready with damage 0.

That's because they're loaded on a ship - it will never show them ready.

I don't know about the unloading bit. Try a post in tech support with a save.

Well, I am not that sure that I first used the "Air transport" mission...
I am sure I changed missions several times to find the way to get those chaps out of the ship... ;)
And now it's just stuck.

Well, I also used AKVs several times with no problem, so this one seems "lucky"...
I think it becomes messed if you change the mission type with planes on board...
The TF cannot be disbanded, it says: ' cannot be disbanded (troop load)'

OK, GZ gave me an idea. I have seen several times when TF's just get messed up and need to be reformed. The good news is that you do not have to disband to get it done.

Crate a new TF, and add the ships from the old TF directly to it. If you add all of them the old TF will just go away and you will have a new TF with all the same ships from the old one.

Then try to unload.
