Kesselring -> A suggestion (10/15/2009 6:23:14 PM)

I think it would be better if a auto patrol/intercept function can be added. With such function, the action phase can be controled by computer for the defenders, especially Axis in BTR. I have such suggestion is because there are so many raids in each turn, intercepting every one or most of them manually is very tiring, even I have enough fighters. And the the A/Cs in the airfield can be easily attacked and lost because I cannot watch every raid all the time so that some A/Cs are not launched in time.

Terminus -> RE: A suggestion (10/15/2009 6:53:15 PM)

I would suggest that this is the game for the defender, and it would be pretty silly to automate it.

Hard Sarge -> RE: A suggestion (10/15/2009 7:57:45 PM)

parts of that are already in, you can turn the commands to AI controlled, and it will do the reacting (say you are only worried about Reich and Luft 3, you can turn 2/4/Ost to computer controlled

Sarge,
That is interesting. Can I do similar with Allied Bomber / Fighter Escort Groups? I thought that since there is so much that can be automated there might be many combinations of play you could set up.

Like could I run both Allied and Axis forces in one campaign? Could I select particular forces of each side and run them exclusively and let the AI run the rest of the war?

Just curious. This brings up a lot of ideas that might be fun. Alos can I set sides to run auto pilot and then from time to time or at some particular juncture can I step in and take over? Just thinking outloud here.

Later,
KayBay

Yes, you can. Start a head-to-head game. Set the axis commands you want to auto, end the turn. Set the allied commands you want to auto, turn on auto-plot, plot the raids you want, end the turn.

Have fun responding the the AI in the north, while the AI in the south responds to you. Or vice-versa.

Maybe it's just me, but I find things complicated enough playing just one side!

Pooley,
I agree, but for me it takes so long to build a days worth of missions I thought it might be fun to play a little more lightweight and see what I can learn. There is so much to this game. It is most likely the toughest game I have had so much fun and frustration playing. I was thinking about just letting it run for a couple months or so and step in and play a bit then let it go autopilot again for a while. Might be fun. [8D]

Long ago someone said about Gary`s Games: "You hate it for the first 2 weeks and then ( when you rolled over the top of the learning curve ) you loved it for the rest of your life" [8D]

Golden Bear -> RE: A suggestion (10/22/2009 12:24:15 AM)

I let the AI plot most of my mission groups for almost my entire first game. After a while I started tweaking them a little (why launch a 31 morale BG when there is an unsed 70 morale unit). Learned a lot that way. Nothing wrong with letting the thing plot for you. Might have a tough time "winning" but you can pick your spots to do what you want.

kaybayray -> RE: A suggestion (10/22/2009 12:40:23 AM)

Hey Bear,
LOL yea I havnt tried that yet. Guess I am just too Hogg Headed in my old age. I just need to figure out how to do the Luftwaffe side on auto pilot. I think I could learn a lot by running both sides auto and watching what happens, check on how things are put together. Would probably help my game a ton.

Hey Richard,
Yeah, man I can remember the first few weeks I struggled with this game. Kind of felt like back in my College days doing my second year of Physics. While everybody else was out havin beers at the game I was chasing Trig functions around Electromagnetic Fields till 3am. I tried so hard to stuff that crud between my earlobes it made my stomach hurt. That is what it was like with this game until I got a handle on it... we at least until I wasnt getting whooped so bad... not sure if I actually "Got a Handle on it" yet... LOL [8D]

KayBay
