Got bit by a really bad Diplomacy bug. From what I can tell none of the treaties that got "canceled" were ever finalized (in other words ratified by all relevent parties).

Help wanted...

Does the canceled treaty show up on the list of active treaties?

Do you mean after it has been canceled? Or do you mean does it show up in the events report in the treaty section as being ratified?

Before it is "canceled" without being ratified it shows up in the "ratified and proposed treaties" list on the diplomacy screen. It shows that I as the proposer automatically vote to ratify, while it lists "proposed" for the other countries involved.

We know it wasn't ratified. Turkey rejected it, because he knew Russia was declaring war before he put in his turn, while Poland counterproposed a similar treaty the next turn (but made a mistake including Russia in a clause which resulted in the treaty being canceled in a similar manner and us all getting hit with penalties a second time, even though the second treaty wasn't ratified either).

Does it show up in the list of active treaties under the Diplomacy Advisor, after it was canceled?

Nope, and it doesn't show up as being ratified in the event report at the start of the turn either. The only notification is in the treaty report tab where you see that the treaty was "canceled" due to the war between two of the parties to the treaty, but since the treaty was never agreed to penalties for breaking royal marriages that never took place is problematic.

The only treaties that are canceled because of war are active ones, so it must be activating somehow.  Do you have the save game during which the treaty is proposed and/or canceled?

I have the PBEM ALL files for the turns involved. Let me know what address you want me to send them to.

I think the bug is that the proposed treaty is getting canceled before it is even activated.

Of the four nations involved in the proposed treaty two of them didn't vote to ratify.

The turn order IIRC goes like this:

Turn 1. I as France propose a 4 way treaty involved France, Turkey, Russia, Poland.
Turn 2. Russia votes against and issues orders to declare war on Poland, Poland votes yes, I (France) vote yes, Turkey votes no because he found out before submitting his turn that Russia was declaring war.
Turn 3. We receive the new _ALL files and open opening it discover that Russia has declared war on Poland and a treaty which was never ratified was somehow canceled and all parties involved got zapped for -50 glory per marriage clause (marriages which never happened).
