Does successful mission during the faction invasion/defending has effect on the outcome or merely for statistics purpose

Yes, every mission you take from invasion /defence scenario, help to affect outcome of battle, but you need to do many missions before it takes effects. Basicaly it is 3+ big ships destroyed to start afecting battle, and you need to have free of over 100 days to have realy effects of your deeds. (read, to conquer/deffend system).
