ruffels -> Eastern Army...To use or not to use? (10/31/2009 8:37:41 PM)

Hi Guys
Playing the big campaign as the Allies. I've got all these units arriving in Aden as the Eastern Army. Are they supposed to stay there or can I move them to where I want, including the HQ? Is there a penalty for doing so?

My fight in Akyab has turned into my game's Guadalcanal or Stalingrad with the Japanese AI having piled in 127,000 troops to my 67,000. I'm moving more units in all the time and could sure use those Brit Brigades in Aden as reinforcements.

By the way in my last thread I was inquiring about the AI supplying such a vast amount of troops when I had cut off the Prome Akyab road. Well, the AI sent in fleets of AK's with supplies and the Guards Division. I tried to sink them with the Air Combat Fleet out of Colombo and my air out of of Akyab and Chittigong but got creamed from all the Japanese aircraft out of Burma. It's a real mess!

Also this might be a bug. The Wasp was coming from Balboa onto the map and actually appeared near Karachi. What's that all about?

Finally I think the AI is reading more than one script because it is trying to take out Port Moreseby, Noumea, Aukland and Midway all at the same time. I've got my poor little air combat fleets running all over the Pacific and Coral Sea trying to put out fires!

All fun though! See yah

If there's no (R) next to their command assignment, you can move them out. I would think that most if not all of them do not have the (R).

As far as I know, all forces arriving at off-map bases are intended for you to move and use, with the obvious exception of the static units (which are base forces for that base, 1 or 2 HQ's, and convoys). If you can move it, it's intended that you do so.

As far as I know yes. Actually I think you can also move the Eastern Army HQ too. But you don't need it that much if you moved India HQ (you know the one with Wavell)

The planet is round. It sailed over the Atlantic and then around the Cape - or through Suez, depending on the situation in the Med.

No, it's not a bug.[;)]

Eastern Army becomes 14th Army so its intended that these units get used

Thanks guys for your replys. I just wondered about the Wasp because it was at Balboa prior to coming on the map.

Did you accidentally tell it to sail to a port in India?  If you didn't, it might be a bug, though one we haven't seen before.

Most but not all. The most notable I've come accrss is the 5th Br Div arrives at Mombase attached to the Indian Command (R). On refection this could be a bug.

I had similar thing happening to transport TF. Was ment to sail 5 hexes west of entry to
of map to Balboa. It entered map near Aden... Checking its path, was going to sail all the way back to where i intended at the first place...:(

It is not bug.

5th Div never served in Far East. But it is one of the units that is released, if Japan invades India.

What does this mean? The army HQ turns automatically? What about the attached forces? Do they change over HQ as well?

Sounds like fun[;)] Which campaign are your playing and what level (historical, hard, etc.)?

What is the deal with the 5th Brit Div? Does it ever become available for normal operations? I have over 2800 PP's, and it still doesn't show ability to change headquarters.

Andy Mac -> RE: Eastern Army...To use or not to use? (3/21/2010 7:22:57 PM)

No that unikt was removed in patch 1 so ignore ir
t

cfulbright -> RE: Eastern Army...To use or not to use? (3/21/2010 7:54:24 PM)

Thanks for the quick reply. Next question. What's the deal with the 3rd NZ Div? Is it really just a corps HQ?

Yep, I assume it's really there to be a field command unit for the NZ troops. There was a 3rd NZ Div on paper, but never 100% in reality

Andy Mac -> RE: Eastern Army...To use or not to use? (3/21/2010 8:53:39 PM)

Yup 3rd NZ is a quasi Corps HQ because it was the best fit not ideal but roughly right.

All the Div units are on map but it never fought as a Div so this seemed like the best compromise.
