yes, I am expanding a engine factory in Sappora so I do need to ship some supply there. As long as the supply is there by the end of the month I am okay right? Not to worry only little bits at a time on the expansion issue.

So factories need resources and not supply to run then? There is a ton of supply in Japan. What do you do with that?

In order for that factory to repair the damaged (new) engines, you need at least 10, supply in the hex. One damaged factory will repair for a cost of 1000 supply per day. So, 20k supply will repair 10 factories in 10 days. Keep the supply flowing there to keep repairs going.

FatR -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/10/2009 11:04:56 PM)

Another newbie question: what happens if you accelerate a plane and it arrives before the engine it uses (can happen with George, for example)? Does researching engines follow the similar procedure of acceleration?

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/10/2009 11:48:39 PM)

Are there any disadvantages to let us say stopping production completely of one or two factories. Like stopping production of soon to be obsolete aircraft and conserve for the building of much better aircraft in the near future?

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/11/2009 12:12:09 AM)

How long do you have to keep supply flowing to repair these factories or is this an ongoing process where by you have to keep supply flowing there for repairs forever?

Menser -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/11/2009 12:15:06 AM)

If you have 40 damaged factories and want them repaired then keep the supply going for 40 days[:)]

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/11/2009 12:22:57 AM)

Then in this particular case after 40 days the factories are repaired and there will be no more need for supply there for repairs of these 40 factories?

I'm not sure you can research engines. The factories just turn on at a specific time. If the R&D of an airframe begins before the engine comes online, you're out of luck, I suspect.

That's a valid tactic. I regularly turn my airframe and engine factories on and off depending on the situation. I'll set a maximum and minimum pool level for each plane type, depending on type of plane, number of slots available and how many more reinforcements are coming, as well as when that plane will be upgraded to a newer model. That maximum and minimum may change. The goal is to run out of those planes as the new model takes over. Eventually, you won't have to build any more because you'll replenish the pool as you upgrade air units.

Yup. After those factories are repaired, they'll only be damaged by Allied bombing. Otherwise, they'll be good to go and won't need any additional supply. They'll only suck HI out of the pool to build airframes or engines.

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/11/2009 1:09:13 AM)

One more question. Can any of these air factories be converted to let us say armoury or vehichle factories?

I believe these (engines) do R&D.

No can't convert from one type to another. Only Naval and Merchant Shipyards are allowed conversion.

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/11/2009 1:27:58 AM)

While we are on the subject what are the advantages and disadvantages of converting Naval Shipyards to Merchant Shipyards and visa versa?

n01487477 -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/11/2009 1:36:30 AM)

No real advantage in my book, cause as soon as you convert they need to be fully repaired again. This is unfortunate and should be changed imo, cause there is no way you need to rebuild a ship yard from scratch again. I'll also just diverge for a sec, and say it is a pity that repairs(incl conversions) & new construction are not handled differently.

I forgot to say before you can convert Arm and Veh factories too .. but the same applies. I think that converting is a bit silly, I'd rather use the supplies to expand an existing facility and still have the potential capacity of the other, even if turn it off.

Yup, I've had engines advanced to be available earlier. (Nothing deliberate I did, you start with some large fully repaired factories)

SqzMyLemon -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/11/2009 4:10:44 PM)

How do you tell when a factory is actually repairing itself, or is damaged for that matter?

Excellent. That's good to know. Thanks!

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/11/2009 6:04:42 PM)

There are a few ships I noticed on turn 1 for the japanese in Japan like a few AK's and stuff that are printed in red with 0 endurance with no damage what so ever on them. What is the story on those and how do you get them active?

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/11/2009 6:18:07 PM)

What ship is it and what ship designation is it that can transport midget submarines?

It's the subs I-16, -18, -20, -22 & -24.

They have no fuel. You refuel them.

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/13/2009 1:25:29 AM)

Oh, ok thanks. That makes sense. LOL

How do you know how many points you have and what you spent when you start accelerating your production, ie reinforcements? I noticed that there is no way to accelerate you ground forces coming. Am I right?

Mynok -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/13/2009 2:02:36 AM)

Yes. No ground unit acceleration.

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/15/2009 12:13:45 AM)

Just for your information Section 13.2.2.5 of the manual states that you can research either engines or airoplanes. LOL

It helps to read the manual from time to time. :-))

Please make sure to create a course in crashing the Japanese economy and send it to my opponent: ChezDaJez...

Don't worry, if he's anything like me, he will be able to do that without any outside help what-so-ever. [:D]

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/15/2009 5:55:25 PM)

What is AE Japanese Tracking. Someone told me it is a good thing to have but I have no idea what he is talking about. LOL

findmeifyoucan -> RE: Japanese Production crash course (11/17/2009 1:37:53 AM)

What does the number mean next to the ship when you click on acceleration for Japanese production?

I am real good at that. Brad and I had a CHS game end in Aug 1944 when most of our good pilots were abducted by aliens, as Brad says. At the time, my HI pool was around 900 IIRC. Made it a tad hard to upgrade airframes or do anything else with the economy.

On Shikoku Island there are lots of resources. Should I move them to the main land or keep them there for future use. There is only one factory there for the HA60 engine which is used for the Judy planes which is not available till 10/42 unless of course you do lots of research, lol.

Also, how do you find out the specs on a plane that is not ready for production yet? Do you have to wait till it arrives on map in order to see all the specifications on it?

Move those resources to the mainland !
