Lanconic -> Question about Victory (11/8/2009 10:54:07 PM)

So am I to take it that when German industry reaches a negative number
the Germans are winning?

Sure doesnt seem like it. Losses are severe. I mean SEVERE.

Like 13k planes since the start at 12/20/43

I have at least 20 gruppe sidelined because they dont have pilots.

I am told by the strategic display that the ALLIED losses are even worse.
Almost twice as much.

Hehe. That's more evidence for people complaining about excessive losses. :D

Wayn Reinbold -> RE: Question about Victory (11/9/2009 1:18:52 AM)

I don't known what the break even point is, but for every axis pilot KIA (or MIA), I like to see 10 allied pilots KIA (or MIA). This axis WIA I am not that concerned about because thay will eventually return to their unit.

Nicholas Bell -> RE: Question about Victory (11/9/2009 1:32:31 AM)

Yeah, those are heavy losses.  Depending on the source, the Luftwaffe lost between 2600 and 3000 fighter planes from both combat and operation causes on all fronts from July to Dec.  Or from another source, 2600 day fighters Sept-Dec 43 in the West and Med from all causes.  The USAAF lost 18,360 a/c during the entire war in Europe, and the RAF lost 22,029 total (but that includes a lot of time before the game too). So if you are in the 20,000 range after only 4 1/2 months, you're way ahead of the curve there.

I'm sure you will be told by others that you are simply not playing historically.  But not by me, because even with bad play shouldn't be physically possible to have losses as high as you (and many others) note.  Instead, I'll remind you that this is a game, not a simulation, and nowhere in the game description or advertising does it say that it is either accurate, realistic, or historical.

From the Matrix products page

Gary Grigsby’s Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a detailed simulation of the Allied strategic bombing campaign against Germany in World War II. Combining both classic titles Battle of Britain and Twelve O'clock high into a single game package, this in depth air war simulation includes all the appeal of the original two titles with a huge list of new features and improvements.

* A highly enhanced combination of Talonsoft's Battle of Britain and Twelve O'Clock High into a single game package
* Increased historic pilot database to over 18,000 pilots
* Richer detail across the entire game with more data tracked and displayed like ground kills by pilot and unit, pilot and aircraft losses by unit, pilot loss date and more
* New nationalities including Axis Co-Belligerents, USSR and Brazil.
* Numerous new aircraft types, units and locations.
* New waypoints in the plotting options to allow detailed routing to avoid flak or mislead the enemy.
* Added performance modifiers to all aircraft based on altitude and overall more realism with flight operations.
* Simplified field-pak options for the Luftwaffe defender, and added new options for the Allied attacker
* Fighter Bombers can now sweep and will attack.
* Many AI improvements like better choice protocols on which airfields to strafe based on recent recon and flak deployment
* Improved AI use of new planes
* An all new accurate fuel-use model, allowing units to fly until they are “Bingo."

I dont expect perfection, just most of the major "irregularities" ironed out. I think that the development team did an excellent job but there are many area, one is highlighted here, that need improvement.

Dont ignore your customers wishes, and aim to resolve those which you can.

Nicholas, enough of the broken record already...

We're making changes, for better or worse...

Actually I was not complaining. I was asking about the -2 in Industry that I see.
If it stays there, I assume there is a sudden death deal?
So if I want to keep playing, I must ground the Luftwaffe?

I was not complaining Harley.
Believe me if I see something I dont like, HS can tell you, I am not shy about saying something =)

I am trying to understand the game/system

I would say that the losses were caused by VERY aggressive play on my part.
In fact almost, wreckless.
