Gary Tatro -> So What is the Difference between a (6/22/2002 1:58:10 AM)

Mine clearing tank and a Enginering tank?

chief -> Quick Answer (6/22/2002 11:12:11 AM)

Gary, an engineering tank was normally configured with a dozer blade and occasionally with other wierd contraptions such as portable bridges, yes they could clear mines, but not as effectively as a mine clearance unit with flails installed. HTH a little. Hell what do I know about it I wasa swabbie.:D :D :D :) :cool:

Goblin -> (6/22/2002 10:12:13 PM)

I don't think there is any difference in the game, Gary. They seem to work equally well against mine. Not sure about the mine clearing tank against obstacles. Never tried it...

Goblin- A Goblin prefers a blade over a flail:D

jarnoid -> (6/22/2002 11:28:48 PM)

I'm not sure, but referring to the descriptions of bladed tanks in SPWAW encyclopedia, the blade counts also as front hull armor. Not sure though...

They both work equally well on all three obstacle types (how a flail could remove an AT obstacle, I don't know)

The secret mine clearing vehicles are the vehicular flamethrowers - they really do the job quick! :D

Beat chains on a concrete obstacle long enough and it will go away. :D

What my now meager resources say is the flail tank was speically made to clear mines. the dozer tank could clear mines by floating the blade over the ground but it was slow. My 2 pences worth.

Ograbme -> (6/25/2002 10:58:32 AM)

When a flail tank detects mines, shouldn't 1 mine automaticaly be cleared?
Also, I've heard that flame tanks and such are good for clearing mines. On this advice, I had two Churchil AVREs and a Crocodile flame blast the crud out of a mined hex, only to loose a Kangaroo to a surviving mine right afterwards :mad: ! How much firepower does it take?

Thomas D Curry -> (6/25/2002 11:58:55 AM)

I do not know why a flam thrower would remove mines. They should only burn the stuff above ground and leave the mines alone. Shrugs must be game mechanics And the use of a flail tank to set off a mine is a hit and miss thing sometimes they miss the important one and you go boom!
