Say you have a fighter with a ceiling of 20,000 feet, and you put it on cap at 20,000 feet. Then the enemy comes in with a fighter sweep at 25,000 feet, will the fighter on cap climb above its ceiling to engage at 25,000 feet or does the game force the sweep down to 20,000 feet?

I don't know the answer to your question, but In Which We Serve was a great flick.  Even if it did take place in the Atlantic.

Planes cannot climb over their service ceiling...obviously. So in this case, enemy at 25k will dive down and have decent advantage against 20k planes. I think in initial attack, it was something like +1 maneuverability per 1k of altitude advantage. Then there is speed advantage etc. The Elf would know, but he's not going to tell the formula. I think that the Carrier is an Illustrious Class, but that is definitely your Rock.

planes could do that in WITP though and if it were Allied planes and had enough radar in the hex (therefor Allied as the Japanese "never" have enough radar) then they could not just climb above their max ceiling but also BOUNCE the incoming sweep or bomber strike. If it wasnīt changed from WITP to AE then itīs still the same.

If itīs like youīve described then applause to the AE team. [sm=happy0065.gif]

I have faith for The Elf. If it's not the case, it's a bug. [8D]

I believe its an Illustrious, as Divepac said, leaving your lovely Rock. It's been a while I forgot exactly which ship it is.
