when setting the 'arc' for your search - does the arc go from 'left' to 'right' - for example - if I set an arc from 220 to 180 - will it search the LONG way - from 220, through the 360 mark, and back around to 180? or does it do the 'SHORT' way - ust the narrow 40 degree arc from 220 to 180 going LEFT on the compass?

very important. Thanks!

The arc always is in a clockwise direction.  Thus, 220 to 180 covers 320 degrees.

thank you!!

We know that one plane is assigned to the first 10 degrees of the search arc, the second plane is assigned to the second ten degrees, etc.

My question is what happens when there are too few patrol aircraft? The default search arc is 360 degrees; if there are three patrol planes set to normal range, is this the same in effect as assigning a 0-30 degree search arc?

My apologies if the answer is in the manual (I cannot find it) or has already been addressed elsewhere in the forum.

If no arc is set, then the AI will randomly set them.
If there are too few to cover a player defined arc, then the AM will attempt the cover as much as possible. The PM will continue from the last arc searched.

Good to know. No more default settings for me. I think that in most cases the player can guess a useful sector to search better than a random number generator.
