gvierstra -> switching save to another pc (11/12/2009 3:01:55 AM)

I want to continue my game from the old lapper to the new one. I have AE installed and updated. I think I can email a 'game save' file to the new PC and insert into a game saves folder in AE. Then it would show up in my 'load saved games' list and off i go to take Entiwok.

I don't know where in the WITPAE folders I would find the folder for my latest save on the old pc or where to put it in the new pc (assume same folder)

am i at least warm? can you give me the save game location and probable file name to look for a game 3-23-42 name = #47

help please, thanks

Search for a folder called SAVE on your PC.
It will probably be located in "\Matrix Games\War In The Pacific Admiral's Edition" or your C or D drive if you used the default install.

I know where the save folder is in the game folder but it has approx. 100 files in it with no clear indication of what to copy to the other PC.

Is that my 'latest save' and i should copy the entire contents of the save folder to my other pc's 'save' folder then go to 'load saved game' am i getting warmer?

Thanks for your help

Sort the files by date, and take over say a week's worth of files.
The most recent should be at the top (or bottom depending on sort sequence).

Thanks, i'll give it a shot. I had the files sorted by type and it made no sense to me.

The date sort should give me an idea of the grouping of the files for each save.

cool...

I find that I generally always sort by date when looking at any files on my PC.
That gives an idea of what has changed recently.

You need to be careful using this method. Files have two (or more) date stamps associated with them. By default the creation date is normally visible but it's the modified date that you want to use with saves. If you right click on the column list you can select which.

The actual save file is called :

wpae###.pws

with ### corresponding to the slot number where you saved the file.

wpae001.pws is the combat replay file.
