If you are sending an aircraft carrier back to Pearl for repairs - is it worth it to send it's aircraft to a base rather than send it back too? Does anybody do this?

Hi

I keep my A/C groups on a base especially as the Japs. I'm sure you will find others who dont. Those airplanes will do so much more in combat than on a RR trip in Japan/Pearl.

Be careful how you employ those carrier air assets though. Your best strategy as IJN may be to hold them in reserve on a low training number, and then throw them at USN fleet units that operate within range.

The reasoning behind this is that although Japan's aircrews are far better trained early on, attrition losses are not easily replaced, so their quality drops off sharply.
