Oldguard1970 -> TCPIP Play - no valid sessions (11/27/2009 3:13:03 PM)

My opponent and I are trying to play Antietam or South Mountain via TCPIP Internet play. We get a "no valid session" error message.

We have confirmed connectivity. (We can talk on Roger Wilco, so we know we have the right IP addresses and our computers can "see" one another.)

We have each tried being the host. We have tried with a new game and with a TCPIP saved game.

I would appreciate any advice about what we might try.

Thanks,

Old Guard,

I have tried it though hamachi and it doesn't seem to work either. I am using Vista. I was wondering if you also had Vista or XP.

My opponent and I received the error message though direct play TCP/IP over the internet as well.

Can anyone confirm whether the TCP/IP connection works over the internet or a home LAN?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.

I use XP. The error message I get says "no valid session" or something like that. Is that what you are seeing?

I can confirm that we have successfully played over TCPIP in the past. We have played for years.

Best regards,
John

Got it!

The wireless router was the problem. When we hardwired into the Modem (bypassing the router), we got connectivity.

I imagine there is a port-forwarding process that would allow us to play using the wireless, but that is beyond my skill.
