I thought the series was ok. The episodes about Eugene Sledge were brilliant however.

As I previously stated, the gamers have mixed feelings about it. As for me, I like it much better than BoB, but that's mainly because I'm more interested in the subject of the Marines' War rather than the War In Euope. In any case, I pre-ordered the DVD set in June 2010, and got a good deal on it. One of things I liked about it is that I can watch the episodes without the historical introductions, which helps it flow better, as I didn't need them. No offense was intended, OK?

Well, I'm on the fence about buying the series on DVD. At first I was looking forward to it, but some of the comments have made me think more about it! I enjoyed Band of Brothers, but some of Hanks comments on this series has me re-thinking the purchase....

Wife Unit Mk I gave me the DVD set for Christmas as we no longer get HBO. She watched every episode with me and we really enjoyed it. yes, maybe not as good as Band but well worth the investment. Kim liked it so much she read my copy of Sledge's "With the Old Breed".
