currahee55 -> PBEM Problem (11/12/2000 8:21:00 PM)

A friend and I have been trying to play SPWAW, ver 4.4, by secure pbem. We are getting all four files ok, but when either of us tries to load a move sent by the other, we get an error msg, "security violation, player 1 OOB file corrupt!!" He's on aol, I'm with an independent ISP. No problem playing unsecure, but secure won't work; we even tried sending with uuencode, no better. Help! Ed Morris

Emorris5, are you ziiping your files? I was having the same problem until I was told to zip them.

You will get this warning also if the least little difference exist between the two oob's!! Anything, if either of you edited even one little letter in spelling in an oob it's using for this game, it will say it's corrupted. Try send ing either your oob's to him, ot vice-versa, they must be the same for secure play. ------------------ Mike Amos Meine Ehre Heisst Treue

We are zipping, so that's not it. I think Warhorse may be onto the problem, tho- see post, below. Thanks, Ed

OK, that sounds like it may be the problem- my friend was playing with a prior version, and mine was a new install, so if his 4.4 upgrade didn't overwrite all the oob's, there's probably a discrepancy. We'll check it out. Thanks! Ed

check to see if the emailx.rec file has the same date and time of creation as the emailx.dat file. If it doesn't, this is your problem. Sometimes the .rec file doesn't have time to save if you exit quickly. You will have to replay the last turn over to get a good .rec file to save. Then your opponent will be able to open and play his turn. This has happened seceral times in PBEM games with me. CJ

I was getting this error as well, after having done the original download and doing all of the patches, (including the beta). Uninstalled and reinstalled the complete44.exe and the problem went away...

I've come across this problem too. It seems like getting a new oob solves the problem.
