All,

Have a question. I am playing a campaign right now as the Allied player. I have numerous air units sitting on the West Coast--most of them are USMC squadrons--and for some reason I cannot load them onto my transport ships. I've tried using the "Air Transport" type of task force option, but that doesn't seem to work. I've made sure the ships are docked and the air units have been stood down.

What am I doing wrong? There are dozens of squadrons at LA, San Diego, Portland, Alameda, Seattle, etc. that I cannot get into the fight.

Thanks,

John Bruning

Is the hq to which they are assigned restricted? If so change their cmd to an unrestricted cmd.

Hey thanks! That worked for the USMC units. However, everything that I've got that's attached to the IV Air Force or IV FC will not give me an option to change HQ's. Any idea why?

Thanks!

John

Some aircraft squadrons are permanently restricted, in your case the 4th Air Force and it's component commands are presumably solely for the defence of the west coast of CONUS so they're hard coded to prevent players from stripping the West Coast of anything useful to send to the front. Some commands like the Dutch squadrons in the DEI are also coded this way.

If the parent HQ of the air unit is listed in yellow you can change it. If it is listed in white it is permanently restricted, and no amount of mouse thumping will change it. Dont fret, you get plenty of Air units anyway - let the restricted ones happily train in the USA (or put them on ASW if bomber/patrol units), and every couple of months go through them and release any useful pilots to the reserve pool.
