The army builder lets you design your army, much as you would for a tabletop game. You select the army you want to use - e.g. Parthians. The Parthians have certain troop types such as Light Horse, Cataphracts etc. Each troop category has a minimum number of compulsory units of each type and a maximum number. Each troop type costs points based on the balancing so Cataphracts cost a lot more than Light Horse. The costing is modified by the equipment, training and quality of the unit. Sometimes you will be able to downgrade you troops to poor quality for a points saving. Other times you will choose to upgrade to Superior or Elite for better strike power. Not all units have all options. E.g. you can't have poor Spartan Hoplites. You design the composition and equipment of your army up to a set number of points. This is the army builder. This is combined with a new play mode, which allows you to take your designed army in to a match against other armies of the same points value. You can select the opposing army or randomly set it and let the AI pick it or use a pre set list you have already defined. These battles willbe on random terrain so they give an almost infinite number of replay options. Once you play you usually find your army design could be improved so you tweak it and try again. All of this can be done in single or multiplayer. It's going to be aewsome :)
