Andy Mac -> RE: Battle of Moulmien day 2 (2/17/2012 11:11:38 AM)

Been a quiet few days I have been hitting Jap AF's in Burma but PZB hit back hard but I am keeping the pressure on as much as possible I will probably try again to hit the Andaman Islands in a few days again I will take my losses if it achieves the objectives I have set

SWPAC has been relativelly quiet waiting on convoys of fuel to arrive and prep levels to increase no need to push to hard there yet.

CENTPAC both bases in southern Gilberts have operatiional airfields just waitning for follow on TF's to arrive and for AF's to get to level 3 so I can base bombers there to supress Tarawa.

I have until end 44 to clear Marshalls so taking my time

Andy Mac -> RE: Battle of Moulmien day 2 (2/17/2012 3:12:45 PM)

CAP is so porous in large battles that I cannot rely on it to keep my carriers safe

I am therefore always splitting my Carrier TF's into a multi hex formation covering 5 hexes

Each hex is coneected to a minimum of two other s for support and each hex has one fleet carrier TF and 1 CVE TF in it which should limit my total losses if CAP proves totally inadequate

That formation and splitting of carriers is probably ok for the Gilberts and Marshalls but I will need to think again for next phase objectives.

Every month I dont commit to a knife fight is another month I get stronger.

Waiting for Tabitea to build up once its up to size I will use Venturas (of which I have 400+ in the pool) to supress AF's in the Marshalls/Gilberts as I drive into CENTPAC.

Moving Superforts and B24J force to SWPAC

B24Ds to Burma

The plan is to try and drive into SWPAC and CENTPAC in next few months

Andy Mac -> RE: Battle of Moulmien day 2 (6/6/2012 1:26:38 PM)

OK this game is still live as I play for little self respect

Its been slow gong because of work and holiday but its given me time to plan my revenge.......

Given my past performance in this game I have Christened it Operation Muppet

Its going to be a throw of the dice no question and it will take about 3 months to get ready but yes folks he is going deep again fortune favours the brave (in my case maybe not but this game is boring now for PZB and I suspect if I keep grinding forward it will end from boredom ..... so I am going to throw the dice its **** or bust time !!!!)

Operation Muppet is a go !!!

ADB123 -> RE: Battle of Moulmien day 2 (8/5/2012 10:45:31 PM)

Hey Andy -

Is there any life left in this game, or did you and PzB call it quits?

Andy Mac -> RE: Battle of Moulmien day 2 (1/7/2013 2:41:10 PM)

No PZB got bored kicking a dead horse [:D][:D][:D]

Overall this was a fantastic game charecterised by 2 mistakes on my part that PZB exploited to the max

He played execptionally well and while a Draw was possible I was definitely not going to win this one.

PZB is an exceptional player and it was a lot of fun (and some frustration to play the game out)

Highlight - my reconquest of Burma

Lowlight - either the sinking report that led KB to my cripples or Pearl Harbour where I lost 7 BB's in one day....)

Andy

Yep. Are you still in contact with him? If so, please extend best wishes from this crowd.

Grfin Zeppelin -> RE: Oh crap its for real (3/4/2016 12:55:34 AM)

This one an Q-Ball vs Cuttlefish been the ones that got me hooked to this game back then. Good times.

Andy Mac -> RE: Oh crap its for real (3/4/2016 11:05:15 AM)

I loved Q Ball v Cuttlefish.

After all my luck in PZB v Andy Mac 1 I was dues some bad luck in this one but I then compounded it with some bad play later on and he took me to the cleaners.

Looking at the Sout Australia gamble I should have went for it when his carriers were pulling back or let him get ashore and tangled up in covering a landing so far from home.

I did neither and he got away - ah well !!!

Andy Mac -> RE: Oh crap its for real (8/11/2017 1:56:13 PM)

Note to self don't programme the AI to do anything I did in this thread.

Andy Mac -> RE: Oh crap its for real (8/11/2017 2:00:25 PM)

I re read this thread the other day (bored on a train)

I think I was more than a little slapdash and maybe a little too un cor ordinated

To paraphrase an old joke "I used all the rightassets just not necessarily in the right order"

I think the new low light was my attack in SDEI I never expected a land based counterattack and had simply not prepared enough for it and leaving radar equipped base forces behind - doh !!!!

But there were more than a few low lights for me in this one

On reflection I think less bad luck and more poor play !!! [:D][:D][:D]

PaxMondo -> RE: Oh crap its for real (8/12/2017 3:39:06 AM)

Andy,

A classic. The game has evolved a fair amount, largely based upon this AAR. You guys found a lot of items.

"HI" to PzB if you run across him ...

HvMoltke -> RE: Andy Mac v PZB This time India will Stand !!!! (6/25/2019 2:18:08 PM)

Something else to think about guys the scale of this game is really Div/Bde there are a lot of Bns scattered about at start for the allies which are usefull garrison but a Bn of Inf v a Regt will lose more often than not.

Take a long hard look at what you have in Australia and India - if you want to accelerate getting other forces ready for the fight and more importantly up to strength so they are not being diluted by replacements think long and hard about cannibalisation.....

22nd Motor Bn - probably not worth it unless you are short of militia replacements - more worth it after they upgrade to AIF 42 squads.
17th, 19th and 25th MG Bns on the other hand are strong candidates for a disband to the pool - those three MG Bn's can pretty much bring every Aus Militia Div more or less up to strength in MMG Sections - vital as so much of the Divs firepower is in the MMG's - if you have some to spare you can always rebuild the Bns in 6 mon ths time.

But how can I do that? I tried to disband the Australian units- no chance. The same with the Indian Bn.
Is it changed in a update?
