MichaelU -> Allied combat video doesn't match turn result (12/30/2009 3:40:14 PM)

I'm playing the Guadalcanal campaign PBEM. It's around August 28th, and I watch the reply for the turn, in which I see the Japanese carrier planes come over and smash a DD and AP into small pieces. But when I open the save file to give orders, I see a completely different fleet has been nailed, and the two ships I just watched getting smashed are still merrily sailing along.
The Combat report gives a readout that doesn't match the video replay, but does match the results I'm seeing, which is damaged CAs. The Ops report is showing the sinking of the two ships that I saw sunk in the video replay, but which are still happily floating along.

I checked in with my Japanese opponent, and he saw the CAs getting trashed in his video. So we're seeing different videos, but the same result at the end of the turn. Very strange, anyone seen anything like this before?

Replay bug raising it's ugly head?

It's FOW, the only thing you can believe is what you see when you open your turn.

Surely FOW wouldn't include my Ops report claiming the loss of ships on my side that are still floating. I mean, I can understand claiming the loss of enemy ships, only to find out later they're still floating. But your own?

I've had it happen to me in my game, a DD and an AP claimed as sunk in the combat replay but when I opened the turn they're both there in the TF, not a scratch. Hey if my opponent thinks they're dead maybe he won't come after them on the next turn, I can live with that.

Thats what used to happen in the old replay bug before FOW was invented in AE. Are you sure its FOW and not a replay bug as vs AI I have not come across such FOW. It it shows on the replay it is in the ops report. Now neither may be correct due to FOW but they are the same.

This is the incident I was referring to in my earlier post. Both ships in question were shown to be hit in the combat replay and the ops logs listed both as sunk for that turn. I still have the full set of logs for that particular day, probably the replay too. No other allied ships sustained any sort of damage that day.

MichaelU -> RE: Allied combat video doesn't match turn result (12/31/2009 9:02:45 AM)

It would be pretty weird FOW for my Japanese opponent to see the accurate representation in the combat video of my surface fleet getting smashed up, and me as the Allied player to see an attack that didn't even happen.
The Ops report and the replay match. But neither look anything like what I'm seeing when I open the turn to do my orders.

I'm plumping for this being a bug.

Now I'll always live with the hope, as I watch videos of my carriers going to the bottom, that maybe when I start my orders they'll still be there. How cruel.

As your Japanese opponent, I fully support your carriers going to the bottom.

As a player of this game, I've never had a glitch like this before. It was the first time.

If this was a turn right after you installed a patch or hotfix, then don't be alarmed, it will be back to normal next turn.

We're about 8 turns into a game where we installed the latest hotfix before the game even started.
