The bulge near Stalino / Kharkov is getting bigger.

Da_Huge_D -> Turn 71 Breakthrough-Update! (4/1/2010 1:24:06 PM)

Small update... I think you guys downloaded Larry's aar-files so i bet that you know what's situation right now. Here's picture from end of turn 71 (date is 22. February 1942)
So Larry's panzer-armee broke thru' my line near Kharkov., and now he got open road all way to Moscow. And Rumanian army-group (blue units on map) are going also thru soonm near Stalino within 5 turns or so..?

I'm planning large withdrawal operation (yes.. again). And i need also much reinforcements for the new line, and i seriously need block way to moscow/other important cities ASAP:

So.. Stay tune! For future AAR-updates.

Da_Huge_D -> Reserves in Moscow [T71] (4/1/2010 1:36:29 PM)

Okay here's bonus picture from Moscow. Shows my tank-corps reserves. NOTE! Most of them (almost all) doesn't have even all tank brigades and HQ + mot. brigade yet so i will keep them as reserves until they got everything full...

Okie dokie....I've finished Axis turn 74 and published the AAR here:

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE turn 74 (4/3/2010 8:51:25 AM)

Here's a little movie I put together of the bulge area from turns 62 through 74 which shows how quickly the bulge went from a small bump in the front lines to the full-fledged hole that it developed into.

Da_Huge_D -> RE: FITE turn 73 (4/3/2010 9:01:47 AM)

Turn 74

4. March - 7. March 1942
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okies... So i talk'd about planning my withdrawal-operation in south, and here is overall-plan. So Southern and Kharkov fronts (contains about 12 armies) will begin retreat-operation at next turn and occupy new positions and build line.

Plus, in west of City of Kursk, whole Bryansk front (about 5-6 armies + 2 mech corps) begins withdrawal-operation and move backwards little bit... Avoiding bulge, and Fulkerson loses possibility to cut off their supply line.

Da_Huge_D -> Turn 74 update (4/3/2010 9:23:22 AM)

Random pic from new line part around Voronezh, as you can see. Its under construction, and very thin.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Turn 75 (4/3/2010 8:57:21 PM)

Okie dokie....I've finished the Axis turn 75 and I published the AAR here:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/ygmxmi0zjzy/DAHD FITE game turn 75 AAR.html

The bulge is getting bigger and bigger.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Turn 75 (4/4/2010 9:05:18 AM)

Okie dokie....I've finished the Axis turn 76 and I published the AAR here:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/jmvm2nwytgc/DAHD FITE game turn 76 AAR.html

Dave started a pull-back and I went into pursuit mode.  There's lots of fighting going on all over the south part of the map.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Turn 77 (4/5/2010 10:53:19 AM)

Okie dokie....I've finished the Axis turn 77 and I published the AAR here:

Da_Huge_D -> RE: Turn 77 (4/5/2010 3:31:31 PM)

Turn 77

15. March - 17. March 1942
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright. Pull-back was success in Bryansk front, but not in Southern & Kharkov fronts.
Also as sidenote, Sevastopol pocket reduced to single hex, so city will definitely fall next turn...
Some infantry losses so far:

Here's picture from Kharkov-pocket area. Sad thing, that good armies (such as Guards & shock type) left trapped in city.

Da_Huge_D -> Turn 77 overall-south (4/5/2010 3:49:18 PM)

Here's overall-situation in south, not very good:

larryfulkerson -> RE: Turn 77 overall-south (4/6/2010 7:49:52 AM)

Okie dokie....I've finished the Axis turn 78 and I published the AAR here:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/ztemjr2y4uk/DAHD FITE game turn 78 AAR.html

parzival -> RE: Turn 79 (4/7/2010 11:17:47 AM)

Great pocket in Kharkov, pleasure to watch it. Maybe next one in Moscow [;)]

Da_Huge_D -> RE: Turn 79 (4/7/2010 4:02:42 PM)

Turn 79

22. March - 24. March 1942
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good day. So it's turning spring/summer now (yeah, also in our fite. lol).
So last turn, Don front at bay-area collapsed because of 7. Fallshimjäger dropped behind my lines, and now Rumanians got hole on the line... I'm planning little pull-back as follows:
(Note, 27. Army is coming from Leningrad to reinforce new line, and takes its slot between 9. Sep. Army and 3. Guards A.)

Da_Huge_D -> RE: Turn 79 (4/7/2010 4:14:24 PM)

I think so too. I may have to make a mini-movie to show it's shrinking speed per turn.

Wouldn't that be cool. Maybe I can engineer something like that before '43 arrives.

Okie dokie: I've finished Axis turn 80 and published the AAR here:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/qqzmmrtnm2l/DAHD FITE game turn 80 AAR.html

Also, I've put together the next collection of AAR's ....this one is turns 71 throu 80 and you can find it here:

larryfulkerson -> RE: Turn 80 (4/9/2010 7:24:24 AM)

Okie dokie....I finished Axis turn 81 and published the AAR here:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/w31cntzjmme/DAHD FITE game turn 81 AAR forum copy.html

I finally captured Kharkov and Stalino.  There's a possibility that I might be able to develop another pocket down south.  That would be way cool.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Turn 81 (4/9/2010 7:28:27 AM)

You guys have been busy. Thanks for keeping up with all the stuff that I produce. It's your interest that keeps me going now-a-days. Your questions and / or comments are welcome as always. And thanks to Dave for playing for us.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Turn 81 (4/9/2010 7:48:03 AM)

I've put together a mini-movie showing the explosive growth of the bulges from turns 70 through 81 and I thought you guys might like to see it. You can find it here:

Karri -> RE: Turn 81 (4/9/2010 10:25:11 AM)

D, I think you are giving ground up too easily. For example, why are you withdrawing in Stalino when you got plenty of units to plug the line with? You don't need a line 2 units deep where the enemy isn't attacking.

Maybe true. You mean 6. Army in south? Yes but that isn't enough to plug hole, and it was too far away. This turn i carried 27. A into area and its looking better now.

And i did little withdraw because i don't want another big pocket like Kharkov for while, Larry just brought couple panzer and Pzgr divisions into that area, so there was serious kind of encirclements possible.

Edit: T81 report coming soon... [8D]

Da_Huge_D -> RE: Turn 81 (4/9/2010 11:35:48 AM)

Turn 81

29. March - 31. March 1942
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Withdrawal in Don front was nice success. I got much better positions and now line is bit stronger also. Here's shot from overall situation in south.
Note, all cities marked on map worth 5% production except Kharkov, which is 10%. Fulkerson captured Kharkov and Stalino this turn.

Da_Huge_D -> RE: Turn 81 (4/9/2010 11:51:18 AM)

Here's picture from Orel front, where fulkerson's panzer division did little hole this turn, but i patched it succesfully with 23. Mech Corps.

Actually I mean anywhere where you have a line that the enemy hasn't penetrated or isn't attacking. For example in Stalino you can remove every second unit from the 2nd line and move them north to block the advance. Then just keep rolling back, the key is not to stop the attack, it is to stop any penetration of your line, and for that it is enough to only control ZOCs in the second line.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Turn 82 (4/9/2010 7:39:10 PM)

Turn 82 is the first of the spring '42 mud turns so there was no fighting etc.  I didn't think you guys wanted an AAR that showed only the front lines so I thought I'd just post the picture here:  Here's the front lines as of the beginning of turn 82.
