buff111la -> Help Vista can not see disc (1/5/2010 9:55:57 PM)

has anyone had the problem with Vista not recognizing the TOAW III disc at all? I can't get the DVD/CD or a stand alone CD drive to have Vista recognize a disc in the tray. When I go to explorer, it wants to format the disc. Anyone have any ideas on how I can load the game?

It sounds like your DVD/CD drive is trying to read the CD as if it is formated like a DVD instead of a CD???  Or maybe the CD is scratched / corrupted ???  Have you had success using it before this?  I've never had this problem myself but I feel your pain.  Maybe you can use the download version instead?

That's one of the few problems where you might want to use the support link at the top of the page as well as checking back here. It sounds like it might be a defective CD. They may be able to give you access to the download version and/or send you a new CD.

Thx for the suggestions. I've had this disc for some time and it's in nearly perfect condition. So, I don't think it's the disc. Also, it worked just fine with XP. Any other thoughts out there?

If you've got a friend that can burn a copy of it, or burn it to an ISO and mount the iso, that might work. I don't think there are any disk copy protections involved.
