Unsure as to exactly how to go about making a back up copy of digitally downloaded software.

I've successfully conducted a digital download, program is installed on hard drive and runs fine. Copied all files in the program folder to a DVD (did NOT include the SetupRelease Exe file).

If I subsequently deleted the files from my hard drive and attempt to reinstall from the DVD I burned, I don't see an "install" option. Should I have included the SetUpRelease Exe file on the DVD? Or possibly I don't need an install and can just recopy the files from the DVD back to the hard drive (but I wouldn't think that would give me the option of having start icons put on my desktop).

Maybe a better topic for this would have been "Barely literate computer used needs detailed assistance on how to back up digital download." Any help out there?

The games that I have downloaded from Matrix have been a zip file. Inside the zip is a self executable installer file (.exe) I extract the exe to somewhere on my computer (desktop) then double click that icon. It then runs the installer program. After I see that the game works, I copy that exe to a CD, then write the name, date, and serial number on the CD.

Yes, you should have included the setuprelease.exe on your DVD.
