Cajun Tifoso -> Missing ship kills (1/12/2010 2:06:56 AM)

So, on 1/9/42, a USN TF pounded the Zuiho and Hiryu a little to the south of the Russell Islands. I saw the combat reports and the OP reports supporting the sinking of the Zuiho on the 9th and the Hiryu went down on the 10th (from memory). I have a saved game on 1/9/42 that shows that the Zuiho went down on the "Ships sunk" report...

However, when I pull up the "Ships sunk" report from 1/11/42 (my next saved game), it shows that the Zuikaku sunk on the 9th and neither the Zuiho and Hiryu are mentioned.

What's up? While I like a certain amount of "Fog of War" in the game, but this is downright odd.

Any thoughts?

Yes, its fog of war and sounds like it is working properly. While it could just as easily be the wrong ships listed say in the combat animations or reports, with the right ship actually reported sunk. I think it is fairly accurate and realistic. I imagine it would be quite easy to misidentify a ship during combat, particularly from a plane or during the night or when engaged in surface combat from 1000s of yards away etc. They might get the right class, but reading the number or name on the hull, is another matter. For victory point purposes, i think it lists a ship of same class or similar value, to avoid an incorrect "score" (i you think of it like that), but i may be mistaken.
