Anyone know why Juneau and Skagway have so many victory points for the Japs?

Because of where they are and who they belonged to?

Anchorage is worth alot less than Juneau and its nearby.
Why is Anchorage less important than Juneau?
Also, should Juneau be worth the same as all the major US cities?

Duh, because I was born there. Anchorage is an armpit by comparison. [;)]

My grandpa was born in Skagway, so it's worth a lot too.

Just a guess on Juneau...because it's the state capitol?

No idea on Skagway.

Because of the excellent crab and squid breeding grounds.

You know how the Japanese love their seafood.

Saw it on Discovery, so it must be true.[;)][:D]

AHA! That must be it!

Technically, it would have been the territorial capital at the time...

But agreed.

My grandpa came from England into Skagway to go over the mountain into the Klondike to get rich. He never went back to England (or got rich.)

All good questions. Does it change how you play the game?

Andrew would be the one to answer this. After today I don't know if he's still on the team. We seem to have succeeded in driving off the devs.

It wasn't in the 1940s.

Blackhorse -> RE: Juneau + Skagway victory point value (1/17/2010 3:37:23 PM)

Juneau was the territorial capital and Alaska's largest city. Anchorage outgrew it immediately after the war.

Juneau was also the last remaining source of gold from Alaska's gold rush days (although even that was drying up -- two of the three gold mints had closed pre-war, the last one shut down in 1944.)

Skagway was the railhead for the narrow-gauge RR into the Yukon. It was built in response to the Yukon gold-rush -- by the time it was finished, the gold was pretty much mined out.
