Yow! [X(]

Well, Chungking is a tough nut to crack, esp. if there are 9 forts... one player took something like 2 years to successfully lay siege to it. Bombing and bombardment for several turns then do a regular assault (not shock attack)... rinse and repeat... and good luck.

rtrapasso,

I bet all those Allied players over at AE who are complaining about the Japanese results in China, would drool at the Chungking battle result.[:D]

I have won chungking for more than 10 times with a 9er FT, the losses ok (although I had never been so high), but the FT is not even a step down? I was also extremely surprised is a minus in front of the AS value of the Japanese. also this is what comes to me to see all the units in the overview screen, but if I go through the units separately below in the bar are not there all there??

rtrapasso -> RE: Chungking ????? (1/18/2010 9:55:32 PM)

Not sure why the UNadjusted AV had a negative value in front of it, but this MIGHT have had something to do with the bad results... however, the Japanese ADJUSTED AV did NOT have a negative value, but was less than 1/2 of the Chinese adjusted AV, thus the 0 to 1 result... it could be you just got a really bad die roll (they happen, alas).

And, unless you had loads of assault engineers in the attack, i would not expect the forts to come down... even if you DO have a lot of engineers, if the assault comes off less than 1 to 1, they will only bring down the forts occasionally (depending on the relative strength of the forces)... so that is not unexpected, either.

The amazing result is the number of casualties! However, i suspect the bulk of this was not destroyed squads, but disablements, disruption, etc.

EDIT: when looking at units in the game, some units do not appear after a threshold number is reached... they appear to be there, but you have to look at the LCU screen (or air unit screen, depending on what you are looking at.) As far as the game cares, though, they seem to act normally, though (in may experience)... this seems to be a display issue.

Mobeer -> RE: Chungking ????? (1/18/2010 10:39:23 PM)

Looks difficult with that many defenders!
IJA Engineer Squads can reduce forts even at 0:1 odds.
Bombers can damage the airfield, which then gets repaired in preference to the rebuilding of forts
Bombers can also destroy industry, reducing supplies available to the Chinese

I guess your original assault value was about 47000 - making the number go past 32,768 to wrap around from -32,767 to the value you got. This is based upon an expectation that the value displayed is a signed 16 bit number with a max of 32,768. It looks like the assault value is worked out correctly in the game, given you get a positive adjusted assault value.

You could consider just pinning the Chinese in place?

@Mobeer: bevor i have Chungking attacked, i have destroyed the Industrie ( Ressorce Center / Manpower Center / Oil Center and Heavy Industries ), the Airfield is permanently by over 90 Damage and i bomb since 4 Months with Troops an Airplanes. My AS Value is not over 32xxx Points, i have ca. 22000 AS. This Result is buggy !

If Fog of War is enabled, could this partially explain the high numbers? Thus, since both sides read the Combat Report, that might be a way to hide the actual casualties, no?

Possibly, although FOW is generally much less in WITP than in AE.
