D21 turn 14. Anyone seen this before?

Wow....this is the first time I've ever seen that error. But then I've got 2 CPU's and a Gig of RAM. When you do the three finger salute ( CNTL-ALT-DELETE ) and bring up the task manager ( or however you need to bring up the task manager ) what does it say for RAM used? If it's near the magic number of how much RAM you have in your system maybe that's one way to tell that you have too many running applications open simultaneously and you may have to close at least one of your other running applications to free up some resources for TOAW to use. Have you had your computer 'ON' for longer than a month? Sometimes some applications will ask for RAM and never release it and after a while the RAM available is too low to support the running applications. Well, okay, that case is rare but I've seen it happen. I keep my PC on for months at a time because my idle cycles are taken up by the SETI-at-home screensaver and I haven't noticed that particular problem ( non-released resources ). My advice is to save your game and try closeing some other applications and re-start TOAW to get a fresh copy of the code into working RAM. Lemme know if that doesn't work.

Once you have your Task Manager on screen, go to the Processes tab and select Memory column. This will sort current processes running on your computer by the most „resource-costly“ on the top to the least one on the bottom.

One of my hard disks is failing. I had to boot into Linux to figure it out. Sure enough, a S.M.A.R.T. check detected 100+ bad sectors on the extended partition disk.

Thanks!

D'oh.  I hate when that happens.  But the good news is that hard disks are coming down in price to be really afordable now-a-days.  I'm impressed that you have a dual boot machine.  I need to do that someday.  I'm having too much fun playing with all the software that comes for windows to do it right now though.  Good to hear that you figured out the problem.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Fortunately I had Ubuntu installed. The installation was easy and hardly takes any space, but the windows 7-64 installation had to be first. Ubuntu is crazy easy, really. I cannot get toaw to run well with wine. It installs and launches, but the graphics are all messed up, and I'm not sure how to fix it.

Old spare hard disks are great for backups!
