hermanhum -> Where do pilots from dis-banded groups go? (1/23/2010 11:51:05 AM)

I am playing the Japanese side and have a single air group on a base with 80+ average experience. I was going to Disband it without re-building the unit in 60 days since the unit cannot upgrade and I have no more of those planes available and do not intend to build any more.

Where will those pilots go? Do they go into a replacement pool for re-allocation to other squadrons or do I simply lose them? I would like to somehow save/transfer that high level of experience, if possible.

Why don't you downgrade the group and use it as a trainer ? Use the Downgrade - Fly out parent - Fill remaining method(by disbanding fragment) to replace pilots in another unit of the same type, then fill the original with recruits and train. BTW... I never ever disband full units in witp, you need all the groups you can get ...

hermanhum -> Question (1/24/2010 11:08:28 AM)

That's a good suggestion, thank you.

However, my situation doesn't allow for it.  The plane group is for Sonia dive bombers and there are no planes it can use to downgrade.  Also, there are no planes to upgrade towards.  I do not want to waste production resources on a plane with such limited range as the Sonia so I am just trying to save all those experience pilots.

They should work well in kamikaze roles[:D]

Yeah or fish bait for the AVG, seeing how the AI loves to send tons of Sonia's unescorted to get slaughtered.

I'm a newbie, so I don't have some serious experience in WitP, but I'm still playing my first game, and the Sonias are getting butchered pretty much everywhere, even without enemy fighters to down them. What's the matter with them? Are they made of bamboo and rice paper or what? Not that I'm complaining! [sm=00000622.gif]
