A problem I've noticed is with USN minelayers "disappearing". They'll show on the "all TF" screen with a blank location, and are nowhere to be found. You can recover them (the 3 times it's happened to me) by starting a new "fast tranport" TF in Cairns...they'll appear as a choosable ship option. Add them to the new TF, and then send them back to Noumea where they belong. Annoying.

Now I'm starting to get Japanese troops loaded on my transports. Also partial units from other locations. If I check the load, see it in time, and cancel, they will go away. This, and the teleporting ML's only seems to happen at Cairns, if that's of any use.

Hi,

It's happened to me with a DD and a PG but the last time I remembered how I did it.
I had 2 TFs in the same hex. One had a single PG (TF 277) and the other one a PG and some transports (TF 274).
I clicked on TF 274 and then on the 'Transfer Ships to/from TF' button.
I selected the PG from TF 277 but then I changed my mind and decided to reverse the action by clicking on the PG.
The net result was that the PG with the transports (TF 274) was still there but the other TF (277) was gone but the lone PG could be found in the all Ships list.
I got it back by creating new TFs until the system selected the same TF no, 277. It contained my missing PG already and by adding another ship and then disbanding the TF I got it back into a port.
With the DD I used the same procedure to get it back but I don't remember how I lost it.

This happened to me last night in Truk starting up a PBEM scen 06

What I did was make a bunch of little TFs. You start off with a transport one with some MSWs, an ML and transports, and the rest in port.

I formed a new TF from the default Transport TF, and removed the transports.

Then, I chose the new one and decided to transfer other ones too it, and went the alls hips list of ships in port, and selected them, but of the 5 2000 cap ships I had, only 4 would show up, and the other one was orphaned in the original TF, but when I went to transfer it, it would not show up!

I fixed this by putting ALL of my in port APs in that original Transport TF, and disassembled it by taking out the non - APs into their own specialized TFs, and then I had all my APs, all 10 of them, in that TF, 5 with 1000 cap, 5 with 2000 cap.

Then I broke that up into a group of 5 1000 cap and 5 2000 cap, and all was well.

I about wore out my index finger doing all that clicking just for this. :)

Postulates:

At one pont I had about a dozen TFs in port, so maybe that causes some display confusion.

or

Perhaps it is that I left that TF full of nothin but minelayers and MSWs and no transports, it was not a valid operation, and it decided to 'semi-hide' an AP from me to make it valid.

Question to all of you experiencing this phenom : had you captured rabaul, wewak, shortland, or truk?

BPRE -> (7/12/2002 4:35:37 AM)

Hi dgaad,

Nope. I hadn't capture any of those bases.
Since I transfered the last ship out of the TF and then changed my mind I guess the program didn't know where to put the ship again. Typical situation that's easy to miss/forget when you write the programs.
