Reverberate -> Kosher? (2/5/2010 11:57:59 PM)

Started a new campaign PBEM as the allies. I noticed in the preferences screen, doing my turn, verbiage indicating that the scenario is not official, that it has been modified.

Could that be from the hotfix patches? Or has my opponent been a bad boy?

witpqs -> RE: Kosher? (2/6/2010 12:53:23 AM)

AKAIK hotfixes won't do that. What scenario did your opponent say you were playing?

khyberbill -> RE: Kosher? (2/6/2010 1:05:56 AM)

I think you should ask your foe what he has modded.

Reverberate -> RE: Kosher? (2/6/2010 3:54:50 AM)

Scenario 1.

Me thinks you are right. Only I am not likely to be as polite as you when I do so.[:@]

Reverberate -> RE: Kosher? (2/6/2010 6:45:29 AM)

Any way that this could be innocent?

Just check with the player.

Certainly. If you want to play a non-standard opening (i.e., not hit PH with the KB) as the Japanese or if you want to correct the known errors in the initial set-up. It is polite to tell your opponent (perhaps in general terms) what you did.

I do want to give my opponent the benefit of the doubt, but I am not following you at all. Are you describing a situation where you would use the game editor to alter the Japanese battle plan in historic first day option games? We played non-historic first day. Tell me if in that situation there would be any legitimate need to use the editor. I mean, you can send the KB where ever without the editor in a non historic first day start, can't you?

witpqs -> RE: Kosher? (2/6/2010 5:51:36 PM)

I thought the editor would not over-write the official scenarios? I really don't know what might be going on there.

Reverberate -> RE: Kosher? (2/6/2010 6:14:28 PM)

Not so according to Mr. Herwin. Personally, I have never even opened up the editor, so I couldn't say. (Player here, not a modder.....)

My opponent at first played dumb. And now may have disappeared......

SeethingErmine -> RE: Kosher? (2/6/2010 6:33:53 PM)

I've played with the editor a bit lately, and it tells you slots 1-25 are reserved if you try to save something there (and doesn't save).

I imagine someone might be able to end up with a modified "scenario 1" by manually renaming a bunch of files in the SCEN folder. Hard to see how that wouldn't be an attempt at mischief, though.

Reverberate -> RE: Kosher? (2/6/2010 7:09:16 PM)

I just opened up the Editor for the first time. An impressive piece of software if ever I have seen such.

I'll rely on your expertise: is it possible with the editor to place offensive mines at an enemy base? Same game. Dec 8th, my subs fleeing Manila hit a super massive IJ minefield in the Bataan hex. Most of them sank immediately. How could the IJN put mines at Bataan on Dec 7th without facing the coastal batteries there?

witpqs -> RE: Kosher? (2/6/2010 7:14:29 PM)

They mine the hex with one or more subs. I think it's even built into the AI first move.

Enough to sink or severly damage a dozen subs? Anyway, that's new. Good to know.

You are probably better off.
