There are some ships in the database that have a cargo capacity, but don't really have that role. For example, Japanese ACM's have a cargo capacity, but the manual says that they can not load cargo (6.3.2.3.1 SHIP TYPE CARRYING ABILITY TABLE:). Regardless, from actually doing it, I know that these ACM's can load cargo when organizaed into a Support TF.

Questions if anyone knows: Is there a specific purpose to this like a function that the ACM can perform? Is this correct that they have the capacity?

You're referring to ACMs which are minefield tenders, not AMCs, armed merchant cruisers? I didn't notice ACMs which can load cargo. AFAIK ACMs don't need to load supplies to tend minefields, unlike some other tenders like ASs.

Yep, ACM Minefield Tenders. The To'su xACM and Kiso xACM have 70 and 330 bulk cargo capacity respectively. It seems a little strange other than it may have been an historical reality. In terms of the game, now that I have noticed this, I'll probably make use of it next time I move an ACM from the Home Islands to a remote port.

I would guess that since those are converted from xAKLs, they keep some of their cargo space.
