Gloo -> Unit classes (7/8/2002 10:20:49 PM)

Hello.

Is there a way to add/edit (at least rename, for localization sake :) ) unit classes (light tanks; command tanks; arty; etc.)? Is it hard coded (bet it is!)?

yes..hard coded.
You can try a hex editor finding class names in the mech.exe if renaming is only concern though (..I guess).

Hello Harry and thank you for the answer. You just confirm what I was fearing :) I see what you mean, I thought about using a hex editor for that purpose but how can I alter the original names in first place, in order to see where to make changes?! Moreover, renaming is a step in the right direction but as you guessed, editing/adding would be better... :) Will Matrix share their knowlege of this game engine one day? It would be so fine for many fans to see what they can or cannot actualy do with that game. It's not very fun to always have to ask here and there to understand how that particular thing is working or can be tweaked. It was great to read Wild Bill's scenarii design lessons but we want more, on OoBs and the "real thing" like how to change icons, LBMs, how to add/edit formations and classes, etc. Am I asking too much? Okay, come on, I already know the answer :)
Regards.
